tough starts and using too much gas

over the last few weeks Ive noticed that Ive gone through alot of fuel and that you can smell a strong odor of raw fuel coming from the exhaust and on two occasions I had a hard time getting it started in mild temps. Their is no skipping etc. but at times a very mild lack in power!

I take really good care of my car too!
Help me!!!!!!!!!!!!

archemedes 03-07-2005 08:07 PM

any recent mods done? check fuel pressure could eb high (doubt it) may have a bad injector that is stuck open any codes set?

fbirdquik6 03-08-2005 03:08 PM

no recent mods and their is no service engine code. Also I did run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner through it 2 tanks ago

archemedes 03-08-2005 07:28 PM

may not be a light but there could still be a code, what kind of cleaner did you use? try running some seafoam through it may help (it won't hurt anything that's for sure)

I checked and there is no code, and I used SuperTech fuel injector cleaner
Also I realy apreciate your helping me while I try to figure this thing out

Same problem here, and my SES light comes on once in while if my car is very wet (after a car wash).

that is probably an ignition issue killing a cylinder

I was afraid of that, and I just changed my coil too.

archemedes 03-09-2005 09:32 PM

figure out what's getting wet that shouldn't

RFF 03-09-2005 09:39 PM

Funny thing is what could be getting wet? My hood doesn't leak so I'm not seeing how the water could be getting on the top of the engine?

archemedes 03-10-2005 12:26 AM

use a garden hose and start spraying (use some powder to show where it gets in)

fbirdquik6 03-12-2005 01:16 PM

Hey thats ironic, cause I just replaced 2 coils about 1 month ago! Hmmm Im starting to see a pattern

archemedes 03-12-2005 07:39 PM

what type of coil did you use?aftermarket or factory type?
