Trying to find Kit!!
 
Is their a rear mounted twin turbo kit out there for an lt1 that can put out up to 25 pounds of boost? Or single turbo. It seems like all the kits out there say 15 at most. Or am I going to have alot of custom work to do can I just get an induction pipe?

good luck finding one, never heard of one that could run 25 psi

Since most 'kits' are designed for bolt-on you aren't going to find one that will put out 25 psi unless you happen to stubble across one that someone else is selling.

Also- I hope you have a motor built for that much boost or you will soon have a bunch a parts that aren't any good to you.

Quick question- why do you want to run that much boost anyway?

Id like to know what mods you have done to your car? Listen to ^ this guy b/c he knows more about forced induction than anyone else. haha.

Completely rebuilt 383 all forged internals machined heads from a 94 spent about 700 dollars just on the heads. Not really been looking at turbos long, but I don't like losing and got my *** handed to me by a twin trbo supra. I will only be running 25 pounds at the track on racing gas and will turn it down while on the street maybe 9. Always thought I would just be getting a supercharger.

I don't think that engine will handle that much boost safely, the main caps will be your weak point

What is your c/r? That will be one of biggest factors in how much boost you can run safely.

The other thing is, no matter how much power you have there will ALWAYS be someone out there with more.

Honestly, If you have 500 hp I would be content with it. You are going to either break more parts or not have fun driving it on the street due to the manners that high horse cars get. My car is already a little troublesome now and then and I am only at 465rwhp. I can't wait for the antics its going to have once the motor is done...

Oh yeah- any chance you got a dyno sheet to post??

theirs always going to be someone faster this one is just personal. and im installing deep dish pistons worked it out somewhere around 7.8/1.

By the way I'm still not saying im going to get a turbo and if I do it will not be for a little while. we just broke the engine in and only have about 1500 street miles on it. I made this post to see how big these kits got.

What's the benifit of a rear mounted turbo as opossed to the normal way? Never understood that.

The jury is still split in the forced induction world as to if its worth it or not-

But the benefits are cooler intake temps which help make more horsepower. This really isn't a problem with most bolt-on applications though- you really start making heat when you are running 10psi or more. After that some type of air-cooling is necessary- whether it be air/air, air/water intercoolers, running methanol/water injection or nitrous.

The downsides are a slight increase in lag and about 1psi loss of boost due to the increased piping. But the lower intake temps typically overcome the loss of boost because you can run a more aggressive timing curve and make more horsepower.

I think the only rear mounted turbo I've actually heard of is from a company called STS. One of the old boards i belonged to "F-body addict" had a member who was sponcered by them with thier Mustang for thier rear mounted twin turbo kit. The numbers were impressive but the set-up looked very strange. Gave me that "how would that actually work?" reaction.

they are now touting them as easier to install than conventional (I get a trade magazine with their ads every month)
