Venom

Has anyone heard anything about the Python "Venom 400" system? It's a sort of chip thing, that can be installed AFTER a racing chip, and still increase your HP up to 25%. You can find it at SummitRacing.com. I can't find much info on it though. Has anyone tried it? Is it worth the $299.99? If it did give 25%, that would be roughly 75HP for $300. That would be very worth it.

Oh, and another thing. What about an MSD ignition coil? $44.99, would it be worth it to upgrade, or is the stock coil just as good? I have the engine apart and might as well replace or upgrade as much as I can. I don't want to have to take the engine apart again.

Hey Arch, any ideas where I can get a new or cheap remanufactured Optispark? Cheapest I can find is $185 reman...

doubt it will give a huge difference, basically it lies to the pcm. A custom pcm probably would do more, and be safer on teh engine

What about my other questions Arch?

archemedes 07-06-2005 08:07 PM

msd coil puts out the same voltage as your stock one, and from my experience is a lower quality (2 times my bravada got towed was because of the msd coil)the optispark no clue, I wouldn't do a reman though too many failures with the new check jegs

msd puts out higher voltage...at least the coilpacks they make for my engine do...

but the only real thing upgrading the coil would do is to make the ignition system more reliable and less likely to fail.

Well, good thing I am a fan of hitchhiking... I am stunned though Arch. Reman, $185, new $400. Man thats a huge chunk of change for something so stupid. I will have to think about this. I need to pay bills and see what I can afford.

in all tests the stock coil has been more reliable than any aftermarket
