What is causing....

What is causing my engine to make a "click" noise like every 25 seconds? I just now noticed it (usually drive with windows up and music).

Hopefully nothing serious

you have ure A/C on???

NoRiceInside 11-08-2005 08:27 PM

it could be the fans, it could be spark jump, it could be ABS computer rebooting...but with that vague of a description its hard to say...

archemedes 11-08-2005 08:51 PM

would you like a list of things? Turn the A/C off and see if it still happens ,if not your low on refrigerant, find the leak and fix it.If it does then you need to see what's turning on and off

kizzle 11-09-2005 06:15 AM

I turned off the AC/Heat and the "clicks" went away. Turned it back on and they came back. Now, how do I fix it :p?

NoRiceInside 11-09-2005 12:25 PM

well the click isnt anything bad, but it shouldnt be happening so frequently...

its the AC clutch

archemedes 11-09-2005 06:56 PM

if it's frequent your a/c is low on refrigerant from a leak, take it in and have the leak fixed

97z2801ss 11-10-2005 02:44 AM

Have the leak fixed the right way.. stop leak is baddd!!! n if ure refridgerent goes out n u have to have new **** youll be spending a pretty penny.... If it clicks alot its not bad... The clutches in our lt1s are kinda loud... happens to me alot and my ac works fine nock on wood...

kizzle 11-10-2005 06:28 AM

Yea the AC works fine, ill get the leak checked out right away.

It might be your air pump or one of your relays turning on one of your accessories.

kizzle 11-11-2005 08:21 AM

I got the car checked out and had basically ALL the fluids changed (they said there were no leaks). The click only happens when AC/Heat is turned on, so I dunno.

97z2801ss 11-11-2005 04:46 PM

hey man its okay noise we have noise ac clutches

they pressure tested teh system? and used dye. What will happen is next summer you'll hit the a/c and it will blow hot air, it's a safety to keep teh compressor from burning up, when low it will still cool.It does it in defrost because that turns the a/c on since it works faster with the a/c on

okay i have a different opinion on this now...
i was at the in n out drive through today and i heard that same click of the ac clutch bouncing off the wall. i noticed it was about 10-15 second intervals between clicks. i went back to work and asked my boss and he said thats normal when in traffic and at drive throughs n such where it gets all hot.

do you have a factory service manual at work? it would tell what is normal.I know when I worked on them ('95-'96) it was anything under 45 seconds was suspect
