Whats that button?

Heya all ... so my friend got a 98 camaro v6 and all that .. but she didnt get a manual with it (well neither did i ) and she is wondering what one of the buttons is .. its next to the fog light switch and i think it says SGS . I never seen it before so I dont know what it is either ...

any help would be appriciated :)

When I read the title of this thread, I knew exacltly what button you were gonna ask about hahaha.

SGS = Second Gear Start. Its for wet weather conditions, it'll put the tranny in second gear to reduce slippage for better traction. I used mine a few times and it got stuck once, I have heard a few other people having problems with it too.

Yea I had that crap on my old V6 bird. It was stupid It didnt really help at all.

I use mine when its wet, cant say it makes any difference, but I've never had any issues with it, yet, knock on wood.

Dansredz28 04-07-2007 03:30 PM

yup what everyone said! So just a cheeper traction controle lol

paarman97maro 04-07-2007 04:45 PM

For clarrification, when I said "it got stuck once" I mean the tranny was stuck in 2nd gear....not cool.

no wonder why I look at that empty space for a button and wonder what it was, wasn't sure if it was traction control or something, now I know! ive seen pics that say SGS, always thought it was traction control

paarman97maro 04-09-2007 01:29 AM

you actually have 4 empty spaces for buttons.

NoRiceInside 04-09-2007 02:24 AM

two are wasted with a CAMARO badge.
