where to start?

i drive an 02 z28 and its pretty much all stock except for exhaust. Just wondering if ne one has ne advice on some performance parts that would be a good start. At some point i want to be able to beat this kid w/ an wrx sti w/ a lot a work done to it. Id kinda prefer sumthin not too expensive. thanx for the help...

Upgrade the air intake to help out with the more flow with the exhaust. Get a lid with a K&N filter or intake kit.

drummerguy791 04-15-2008 07:19 PM

ya but should i get the air box or the intake

Mike Jones 04-15-2008 07:20 PM

Agreed with the intake, on the LS1's I believe it shows a solid 10rwhp gain with a good lid and filter. I would also do the free ram air mod, doesn't make a huge difference but if it helps then why not.

Are you talking about an intake manifold?

drummerguy791 04-15-2008 07:23 PM

drummerguy791 04-15-2008 07:38 PM

like which would give me bigger kick

Mike Jones 04-15-2008 07:43 PM

I really don't think there's a difference in power. More of what you think looks better.

drummerguy791 04-15-2008 07:45 PM

guess the air box sounds good then. is there gonna be ne difference to what brand i buy?

No, at the very most there will be a 1 horsepower difference. There was an article in GM High Tech Performance where they tested all of them and they all pretty much ended up the same. I decided to go with the Whisper lid myself.

i see that slp offers a cold air package including a lid, filter, and what looked to be a ram air. Do you think its worth it? And what would installation be looking like?

Welcome to the site.

If you race the sti, make sure you do a frum roll, gonna be a hard race off the line.

Installation is a breeze but SLP is known for being way over priced and for over exaggerating their hp gains.

drummerguy791 04-16-2008 02:41 PM

so how much hp will I get out of it?

paarman97maro 04-16-2008 07:41 PM

he said above, about 10hp.
