Whisper Lid???

Ok I hear alot about them but what are they and where do they go?

Mike Jones 09-19-2005 07:47 PM

It's the black thing up front that say's LS1 on it in red. It's the air intake, is an aftermarket intake that allows more air into the engine.

Any online shop will have it.

Check out LS1Speed.com, that's where I bought mine.

Thunder Racing has them at a good price. Might wana pick up the Ram-Air as well they make a great combo.

The Whisper Lid and Ram-Air Intake dont work on the older style 3.8l you need the cold air induction. Its on that page as well.

ok the slp cai is nice but for half the price i could get the lingenfelter not a pretty but the price is. BUT me and my roommate tryed a custom job of a cai basicly a 90 off the TB into a 3" pipe to a cone thing is that the cone sits right behind my fan so am i helping my car any by basicly pulling the air from my radiator into my TB

archemedes 09-19-2005 11:33 PM

won't hurt, that's better than most, the best way to do it is a fenderwell intake but it can be a pain on teh f body

rlbeshears 09-19-2005 11:53 PM

i noticed. the passage between the radiator and (i think) brake lines im not looking directly looking at car so best i can remember was kinda tight so instead of going to drivers side fenderwell i shot it towards the the passenger and down kinda it looks good wish i had a pic to post.Bought the parts at pepboys i also found out the coming off the TB it is 4" not 3" which made for a pain in the *** but stretch the rubber 3" boot on to it and throw a dryer clamp on it and it looks so nice almost like perfesional. I just dont have a vacum line on it does it really make that much of a difference? 1 other thing i havent tryed it yet but how much of a pain it the *** is it to change the plugs in my car the shop i took it to told me they would do it for 225 and i supplie the matterial sounds like a rip off to me and advice will greatly be accepted.
