Who likes the one they got?

I have a 1988 camaro 350 TBI automatic trans. and stock 2 1/4 exhaust tubing.

I need some shorty headers and some bigger pipe like 2 3/4 mandrel bent, or something.. All i want to know is what you have and if you like it, and how much of a PITA it was to install it.. and maybe a price.. i'll look up what you have.. Thanks, Nick

i got edelbrock headers... i dont know how much it helped b/c i haven't floored my car since installing them but im sure they helped quite a bit. they were kinda hard to put in but the hardest part was getting the old crap out. really to put them in you just gotta take out the plugs and this one sensor. possibly the steering shaft would have to be unbolte. i got away with just turning it. if you have any ?'s pm me

I got hedman shortys in my 91 right now and I used edelbrock shortys in my Iroc I like the edelbrocks better but the y-pipe is way too small. I will be swapping over to full length hedmans and true duals when I have the money for the true duals. I really think full length is the best way to go if ground clearence is not an issue.

BlueZee28 08-20-2006 04:48 PM

I've heard that Hedman's are the best fit...PERIOD

well, at the dragstrip, i have slicks, and i can floor it off the line and not spin, and then i can go half throttle and spin like crazy, but theres not enough RPMS to go faster than 60mph in the 1/8. however the fastest ive been in the 1/8 is 9.509 @71mph and that was last saturday night!

Im looking at a catback system, Edel-5672..

and im looking for a set of edelbrock headers and y-pipe...

MetalliCamaro 08-20-2006 07:14 PM

and Edel-68723 Headers would this and the Edel-5672 catback system work?

91Firebird 08-21-2006 09:53 PM

what would that translate to the 1/4th and is your tbi stock ?

MetalliCamaro 08-23-2006 06:59 PM

I have no idea, Im going to 1/4 mile track sept 8? sunday.. somewhere around the 8th, and its at NED, Thing Called Camaro Day....

Is my TBI stock? yes. Are the settings? No. E-Z Things to change and that make a diffrence..

blue89vert 08-24-2006 08:16 PM

i just found this out you can get any headers and than buy an AIR kit for them and all you got to do is weld them in. its like 50 bucks for a kit on summit. lots cheaper than getting emmision legal ones if thats a concern

MetalliCamaro 08-25-2006 09:36 PM

Huh, Ill grab my summit catalog.. see what i find..

blue89vert 08-25-2006 11:39 PM

i dont think its in the catalog, just look online real quick

I used to have flowtech shorty headers a 2 1/2 inch y-pipe going into a 80 series flowmaster cross flow factory style muffler with no CAT, it ran descent but i wasnt happy with it , so i bought some hedman full length headers and ran true duals with 2 1/2 inch pipes to my rearend into some 3" flowmaster delta force race mufflers and it made a HUGE difference .It helped my motor breath alot better . The only problem is there is alot room underneath the cars to run true dual exhaust , but if your motor is stock then i would think u could run 2 1/4 pipe and it would still help your motor breath and you could tuck it up closer to the bottom of your car .

blue89vert 08-28-2006 07:41 PM

true duals are just added weight. a single 3" cat back is good. duals is sort of overkill

camaro per4mer 08-29-2006 11:24 PM

duals made a difference on my car , thats all im saying , but my car isnt stock , and them two mufflers dont weigh as much as that one big *** muffler
