I'll jump into some of this...

I'm stoked!!! Recently went to Sacramento and got the '67 I've been looking for for over 20 years. Yeah, I love the 4th Gens, but the First Gens... This one has a few gremlins to figure out, but I LOVE THIS CAR!!!

I'd like a firebird/trans am 67-68,77-79, but I'd settle for a 67-81, if I came across the right deal. I'd prefer before the 80, though, cause after 79 the engines started to get weaker.

Actually, a 78-79 Z28 had 175hp opposed to the 190hp on the 80-81s. That doesn't really matter though, because nearly none of them are still stock, and it's very easy to make 300+ with just a rebuild. Mine's close to 400 and it was cheap.

A 69 is definately the best-looking Camaro ever made, and the LS1 4th-gens are pretty tough too. Lots of people dont like the rubbernose Camaros like mine, but you can't beat one for cheap horsepower.

Edit: my bad, just saw you were talking about T/As. Going for a Smokey and the Bandit clone?

korndogg 03-26-2006 01:24 AM

prices arent jacked up unless you want a already done perfect car. But what fun is that?

I've been pricing '69 to '73 the cheap ones are going for $10,000 and need most panels replaced. I can buy a completed mustang for half that (to give example) lately I've been watching a couple of mid '70's cudas they are going for around $5000 needing work, and the sky's the limit when nice

there are plenty of decent 1st gen camaros around for cheap........you just gotta be willing to put up the effort to find one

69z-28 04-05-2006 10:49 PM

if by cheap you mean under 10k like Arch said. my dad payed around 6k for his and it was a POS!!! like literally needed so much.

blue89vert 04-05-2006 10:52 PM

and from what I have seen that was a good deal I've been looking for a few years now, and have friends all over who look I can find one for $3000 that needs a frame, and all sheet metal parts (basically the vin tag, and cowl tag are salvagable the rest is junk)
