Will these heads work?
Hey guys i was talkin to one of my boys and he was tellin me to put 305 heads from a sb chevy on my LS1 for more power. Has anyone seen or heard of this being possible to do to my car? Or is he just running his mouth about s*** that he does know about?
Thanx in advance Ben |

305 was the worst heads cam combo gm ever put in a v8 |

305 heads was a common swa on the old 350, it raised compression, it made a little more power from that if stock, but add a cam and it made less unless you used a specific casting (there was one early one that had bigger vlaves)

the 416 and 081 casting were used on the tpi 305's and can be ported to flow as much as ported vortecs but they dont fit on the ls1
|
thanx for the info guys

The only part an LS1 shares with a regular SBC is the lifters. Nothing else is transferable, except between LS1 to other LSx engines.

I wouldn't beat him too bad- he did have some decent info, just not to the right person.
A friend of mine is swappin out his 305 for a 383 on a budget and my engine builder recommended gettin a set of 305 heads, but only the good casting numbers which were said- the other heads were not so good.. |
