1 Reason to not be homeless in downtown T.O.

STORY HERE

A busy downtown intersection was closed Friday morning as police investigated a serious accident involving a police cruiser and a homeless female.

The woman somehow got lodged underneath the cop car near the intersection of Queen and Church Sts. at approximately 5am.

Paramedics and firefighters had to work for half an hour to release her and time was of the essence - the victim was 20 weeks pregnant.

Police cordoned off the street with yellow tape as the rescue proceeded, and the street stayed closed for most of the day.

Medics transported the woman to nearby St. Michael's Hospital. She was diagnosed as having a broken pelvis.

It's believed she may have been sleeping under a pile of blankets when the accident occurred.

The province's Special Investigations Unit is looking into what happened.

i dont think you can sue someone while being injured committing a criminal offence.. least last i heard it wasnt legal to sleep on the sidewalks of T.O.

but i might be wrong.

You are in fact in this instance. Regardless of whether your are committing an offense or not, a duty of care is owed by the police to the general public.

considering she was brought into st mikes, details saying she was laying under blankets covered under snow... i doubt the police officer will be charged and or convicted.
I am certain nothing will come of it in terms of criminal charges, civil may be another matter.

Criminal, I don't know. I'm still trying to figure out how the cop could have driven over her...did he drive down some alley?

Civil, well unless she's stupid (she might very well be) she'd be smart to file a civil suit.

Your an idiot :eyes:

As for the story

Nobody here even knows the details on where she was and where the cruiser was being driven...this is just another reason why the "news" is bullshit. Gotta love making a few statements and one or two facts into a story....just have to add a picture with bright lights and have people dumb enough to read em.
