A terribly overweight woman got into a terribly grim situation on Friday. And while it's the kind of thing you'd likely see in the movies or on TV, there was nothing funny about what happened to Caroline Comer. Around midnight, the British woman, who weighs 560 lbs., got out of bed when nature called. Comer maneuvered into the bathroom easily enough, but when she tried to leave, she couldn't. Comer discovered to her terror that she was stuck in her toilet seat.
The distraught woman tried desperately to get up, but her inanimate captor refused to release her. She stayed there helplessly for more than 14 long hours, until a relative finally discovered her and called paramedics. They were forced to bring in power tools, along with hammers and chisels, to get into the bathroom and chip her out of her trap.
Because of her weight, it took several hours to lift her out of her home and into a stretcher, before she could be loaded onto an ambulance and rushed off for much needed medical attention. Her befuddled rescuers had to destroy a large part of her house to reach Comer and get her out safely.
