16:9 that's what everything will be in that's in hd, plus most sets in the hd mode letterbox (as far as the 4:3 ones) be leary of sanyo stuff, kinda low quality I would suggest philips, rca, or sharp for lower priced sets. Higher priced, jvc, panasonic, toshiba, sony crt sets are decent but overpriced

Our family use to have all Sanyo's, matter of fact the one in my room is over 12 years old and still works fine. But I'm sure like every other company their stuff is not what it use to be. On that note I did some research online and found that a lot of people were pleased with the performance of both TV's. These TV's are not the best on the market but for their price they are the best HDTV's out.

Sanyo doesn't build any tv's themselves they buy mostly from lg (aka zenith), and right now the life expectancy of the tube is about 2 years. Sanyo went out of business 20 some years ago, and another company bought them and fisher and decided they should be cheap first, and look pretty second
