350 smallblock

Okay the only reason this is in the water cooler is because i didn't know where else to put it. I am a part of a local group that goes out every wed. to surrounding areas and show off our cars. As you all know i have a V6. Nobody knows that when the hood is down....however when i leave wherever it is that we may be everyone can tell i have a six. I was talking with my dad and i don't like car computers very much soo here is my little situation. I want to drop a small block 350 into my carmaro. I want it carburated and NOT fuel injected. Sure some of you may think i am a retard and if you do then fine and dandy it's not your car. So if anyone could help me try to get a start on this project or mainly what i would need BESIDES the engine. I think i am going to try to go to a junk yard and get a 350 and rebuild it with my girlfriend's dad. So it anyone can help all suggestions are welcome
thanks
vince

ive got a shortblock you can have...i mean buy...

its a freshly rebuild 355 4 bolt main. all i have left to do is install the new pistons onto the rods and install the pistons. theres no cam in it, and i havent rebuild my heads yet. but if youre really interested, shoot me some money and i can build it with whatever cam you want and i can rebuild the heads for you.

well thanks for the offer...one problem. you are in cali and i am in Iowa. that's too long of a trip for an engine plus i wanted to try to do that myself. i was just wondering what conversions needed to be done to my camaro to make all this work. thanks though

yea I see where your comming from but from thinking about this with what im going to do with my car... i can go either fuel injected or carb...fuel injection is not as hard as most poeple make it out to be... if you stick with just getting you car running you will have no problem with the computer... then later you can take it to many places that can tune it easily... lt1 and ls1 are GREAT engines that come from the factory with a good amount of power.. both those engines can esaily be put in your engine bay as long with a carbed SBC... the carbed SBC will need to have some of the cowl area cut and removed to fit the carb in.... everything else is basicly the same between a lt1 and gen 1 SBC...the lt1 has a better cooling system also...it colols the heads first instead of the block and make the engine more resistant to detonation along with its aluminum heads... the fuel injection will give you alot better fuel economy... you will porb get some where in the 20-25 mpg range with and lt1 and 25+ with a ls1, you could prolly olny expect 15 from a mild 350 and if you make it any wilder just expect it to drop from there... making power with the fuel inection is just as easy as it is with the carb too... if you were to go with a lt1 you could do somethign as little as puty a lt1 hotcam in it and have a mail order tune and be putting out 350+ hp with great drivablity.. you can go wild and rebuild the lt1 with a 383 stroker kit and put the LE3 set up on it and have 425 Rwhp with other supporting mods... i guess all im saying is you can make power with either setup but with the fuel injection you can have better gas mileage and drivality... most poeple stay away from fuel injection because it is more costly or they are afraid of computers... they are reletivly simple and you can find a lt1 with t-56 for around 2 g's that you could drop in and it would run great... i guess what im trying to say is that with the amount of technology that has been put into the lt1, ls1 sytle engines why not that advange of it? many people have proven power combos with great results...

On camarov6.com, in the advanced section, Someone posted a couple weeks back about doing it to his car. might want to look there.

:lolsign: x2, but still good advice, and when u look into putting a v8 in its a little more work than most people think depending on the engine that u go with so make sure u know everything u need before and plan it out, just my .02, and about the fuel injection vs. carb i personally want fuel injection but like u said its ur car so u should have what u want.

My girlfriend and her dad want to pro/street her 95... Last night he told me how he wanted to put a 454 in it if he could get it to fit. I thought about this thread, but maybe Ill check out camarov6.com to see how that one guy did it. Let me know if you find out any info, so I can relay it to him.
