No experiment has ever shown that anyone has an "imbalance" of any neurotransmitters or any other brain chemicals. Nor could any conceivable experiment demonstrate the existence of a "chemical imbalance," simply because no one, least of all the biopsychiatrists, has the slightest idea what a proper and healthy chemical "balance" would look like.

You fill find that with a proper CT Scan that the frontal lobe region of the brain is slightly smaller in people with ADD/ADHD. You will also find that the total brain mass is 5% smaller than people without this disease, which as I said before has nothing to do with chemicals, as its directly related to the physical size. This is also if you believe that ADD/ADHD/AADD is a real disease. I'll leave my opinion's out of this, because as it is, all you will believe is fact.

Have I gone to college to be a doctor? No. Have you gone to college for anything where you can challenge my itelligence? I don't feel the need to justify my credentials again, but I can guarantee I have more than ample, more than the norm, and more knowledge than you about drugs, the human body, and biochemistry. Whether or not your brother was getting high is debatable, but I can see how he could have gotten addicted to the amphetamine.

Lastly, you said that I was spouting all of this out without having done research, right? The one case study with you and your brother does not count as research, try reading a book or something. I have read many, talked to many doctors, even took an internship at a hospital when I finished my paramedic training. Not to mention what I do now as a cop. If you have read any of my replies, you should know that none of this is opinion, it's all fact, as with most of my replies, you are going to get nothing but the truth. I hope I managed to grasp your attention long enough to help you better understand your problem.

First off, I have never seen anything that even comes close to what you have said. The biggest thing that even comes close is that it is from lack of glucose, which is a chemical for the brain. Hence, the chemical imbalance. Don't believe me, here is the link for you http://add_adhd_hudd.tripod.com/Causes.htm

Second, If you are going to go off info from a ct scan, its not truely credible now. MRI's are more accurate and would show. Ct scans have been known to show something and not show anything on the MRI or not show anything and there be something on the MRI. Just stating the fact. And yes I do know this. My niece is an MRI and I asked here this.

Also, I never said that add or adhd is a disease. Its a disorder of the brain. That's what a chemical imbalance is, a disorder of the brain. If it wasn't a chemical imbalance, medications would not help the problem, and they do help.

Fourth, You say you did an internship at a hospital, good for you. But I seriously doubt you were there to help people with add and adhd. And I seriously doubt that you have more knowledge on this subject than I do. For one thing, I have the knowledge of what it is like to have adhd, I also have done research on it to try to fully understand what it is. You have no idea what it is like. Also, you ask if I have gone to college to challenge you on this. For one thing, I don't have to have been to college to challenge you, because I live with it, but I can and I will. You see Josh, I'm currently in school to become an Rn. So yeah, I think I can.

And lastly, I do have to address this, but everything you have stated, I've looked up and found nothing to coincide with it. So as it is, until you show me the prove of your statements, it purely opinion and not fact. Have a nice night. :D

I didn't read anything you wrote past "don't believe me, check out this tripod website THAT MUST BE TRUE!!".

You have a lot of work cut out for you if you want to be a RN and suffer with ADD. My personal opinion (because facts obviously don't work for you) is that people who claim they have ADD make it up as an excuse to half *** their way through life. The same group of people that call obesity a disease. I've had enough of this topic, I don't want to argue with you anymore. You seem to think its a chemical imbalance - so whatever helps you sleep at night.

Call it childish, but I'm going to lock this thread. What needed to be said was said, and arguing about it after the fact is pointless.
