Airforce

So ive been thinking about what i was going to go after highschool for a while now (im a junior now). And my grandpa, uncle and cousin were and are in the air force. So i thought i would join right out of high school but than i talked to a recruiter that came to my school and he said i would be better off doing rotc at Sacramento State than going into the airforce as an officer anyone have an opinion on this or know what is entitled

thanx

I have personally not been in the armed forces so take my advice with a grain of salt.

I would agree with your recruiter. If you can start out as an officer you will get better pay and you won't have to try to get promoted to that position. Plus as an officer you will get some pretty good benefits and should be able to retire at a good age if you stick with it.

If I were to join, I would only join for the money.

do it, best experiences of your life, I wish I could have joined last year man, but as im a Diabetic I cannot join the service, I would have though, just know that, My dad is currently an E-8 Master Sergeant and had put in over 20 years. I dont think he regrets ever joining.

Yes Air force if you make it through and become on officer and start out as a 2LT getting 0-1 pay grade for around 2.5K a month plus other additional alowances for food and clothing, whatever the air force gives im not sure. Not really that bad considering you get free housing. I dont know much about the air force itself other than the rank structure and small things I learned from my uncle who is a LTC and my buddy from high school thats in the security forces in the airforce which is basicly thier form of military police.

Word, same here. Its a lot of fun and a really good experience. Yea it takes up a whole lot of your time but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Its more of a lifestyle than a job to me. I live by the values.

only thing im worried about is the physical part..running jumping etc. Because i have a torn acl. but i can do everyday things

Bernotas05 05-01-2007 08:29 PM

You should be fine, The air force isnt as strict on PT as the other branches from what I heard.

V6Cam 05-01-2007 09:39 PM

our pt every mornin consists of running 2-4 miles then some upper and lower body workouts, somedays we run a 8 mile run, usually all the runs are at a 7.30 pace, but for example last monday we did one at a 6.30 pace, way to fast for me, the fastest i can go is about a 7 min pace, but i should quit smokin to improve. Thats one thing about the army i got to say is good i have gotten into shape, i have always been skinny, but was out of shape. When i started running the 2 mile i ran a 16:48 now im runnin 13:31

hey tony and chad remember the recruiter that came up to us 2 years ago???? fvcker wouldnt shut up about our cars.

Camaroguy18 05-01-2007 11:02 PM

are your grades good enough for USAFA?? That'd be a great way to be in the service and get a top-notch education....my roomie would have graduated this year from there if he hadn't ****** up and gotten a minor

I have two friends that joined the army. One joined the navy and will be sitting on about 80g's when he gets out in 2 years.

The other just joined the navy reserves, and got a 20g sign on bonus. For that kind of cash, its tempting.
