They guy fawks up the math to throw you off.

Each guy pays $10 bucks. The room only costs $25 bucks. The bell hop pockets $2 bucks, and gives each guy back $3 bucks.

$25 + $3 = $28 + $2 (bellhop) = $30.

He's trying to mess you up. The price for the room ended up being $25 not $30. The only reason I was really able to figture it out is I enjoy taking IQ tests and these are the type of questions they normally ask to see how your mind works. They go out of their way to try to mess you up.
