Computer Port
Ok what's the port called that'd I use to upload the video's from my camcorder onto the laptop?
I think it's called a firewire but when looking at laptops online which port do I need to look for? I just want to make sure I get the correct laptop for my video editing. |

Yep, IEEE 1394, but remember, there is iLink too, Its kinda a mini firewire, I think most new camcorders use/are switching to that.
|
ilink is a propriotory type for one brand, firewire and IEE1394 are the same thing, and are the current standard (but will be going away in a couple of years according to teh CEA)

yeah, look for firewire IEEE 1394

you already had help but fyi, video camera files cant be sent thru usb
|
Actually they can, thats how I do mine, our video camera doesnt have a firewire cord, only a usb one. It can be done, its just really low quality compared to anything I've seen done with firewire.

Lucky you, USB sucks for video.
|
Yep, its slow for large file transfer. Thats why firewire was made :D
|
firewire isn't that much faster though (both methods suck for large transfers)
