DirecTV...

Does anyone here have DirecTV? If you do, what do you think of it compared to cable? Does it go out in bad weather(snow, wind, rain), are there many problems? I've been thinking of switching over to it because my cable bill is so high anymore. Its the highest bill I have to pay every month. Its just ridiculous. I've been hearing some good things about DirecTV, so that's what made me consider it. It would be about the same price, but it would include a lot more channels.

i have had direcTV for about 4 years. Its been pretty good. Sometimes during bad weather it goes out, but that isnt alot of the time. Its reasonable priced, i have the basic package and its fine for me. Im glad we have it instead of the local cable because all my friends have it and it sucks.

its the weather thing I'm worried about. We get lots of snow here, and in the spring/early summer, lots of rain and thuderstorms. That maes me hesitant about it. Plus the contract thing.

I install both direct and dish, they go out is real bad weather the stuff you see on tv about them losing signal all the time is if they are not installed right (during the hurricane last year I lost cable 4 hours before sat the sat went out when the power did) if they try and charge more than about $50 for it laugh at them and go to dish I prefer dish just because of the menus, I have customers who prefer direct for teh same reason. I change companies every few years to get the newest stuff, don't worry about the hd stuff unless you have an hd set the boxes are still expensive and will be comming down in price shortly, make sure everything is to your liking before they leave, everything should be neat and tight
