Drooping Liners

I have a drooping top liner in my car. It's like driving with a hat. I can't quite afford to get it replaced completely yet. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the liner to stick up so that it isn't lying on my head while I drive?

I've seen people stick it up with thumbtacks before, but when mine got really bad, I actually just tore the whole thing off, cleaned the roof, and made plans to eventually "re-upholster" it. I wound up selling the car before I got around to it, but whatever glue they had used had wiped right off, so it didn't look too horrible.

I finally checked into the pricing to have this done professionally -- $225. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do as I have some other issues I need to address as well with my car. I wish I were more mechanically minded.

You don't need any mechanical knowledge for this kind of thing. I re-did most of the interior of two of my cars all on my own while I was still in high school, without any help from a mechanic of any sort. If you don't have the money and it bugs you - use thumbtacks, or tear it off and see what you can do from there.

I had a Jeep like that. I ended up ripping it off but then the foam stuff that was under it use to fall all over the place. I hated it. I ended up selling it before I got around to fixing it--but I was just going to superglue (lol) some fabric over it. Not sure if it would have worked but I was going to try.

I suppose this is a case of nothing ventured, nothing gained. I tried regular tacks awhile ago, but that didn't work. I couldn't really figure out where to tack it. It's just an awkward situation. Thanks for the tips. I'll see what I can do to help myself. :**

I would look at how the liner was originally attached to the roof of the car and try and use the same method to re-attach it.
