Ever heard of Skoda?

Ever heard of Skoda?
Hey gearheads!
Have you ever heard of this brand named Skoda? My friend from Europe introduced me to it. It was a brand that developed in Czechoslovakia (Central Europe, now divided into two separate states) during the beginning of the 20th century, later was nationalized by the Communist regime and after the revolution it was privatized by the VW Group.
Now they are basically the same cars as VW/Seat/Audi, they share all the floorplans, engines and electronics BUT they are prices much more reasonable. In fact so reasonable that one model even outsold its VW counterpart.
They are very easy to tune (mainly the 90's models and some of the Communist-made models) and very popular in the Central Europe as all of the parts are darn cheap.

Re: Ever heard of Skoda?
Well, technically Felicia was the last car from Skoda with Czech origins. It was just remodeled predecessor Skoda Favorit wich was developed during the 80's. Yes, Felicia was also equipped with VW engines but is it still regarded as the last entirely Skoda-made car.
BTW both Felicia and Favorit are very popular on Czech (and European in that matter) tuning scene.

LOL, it's funny to hear you talk about a car manufacturer that has always sold cars in my country, like it's something weird
Up until about 1990 they were seen as a bit of a budget crappy car, but they have gone from strength to strength, winning all sorts of automotive races and awards. Rally champs etc.
The biggest selling private taxi cab here is a Skoda Octavia.
Still wouldn't have one
