The story itself was written by the author of 'Fight Club' and is obviously not true at all. However, the part about having your intestines ripped out by a pool pump was actually based on a true event that happened to a 3 year old girl. Which in itself was a far more disgusting story then that one.

Now as for the part of him being pinned down by his own intestines, the material comprising the colon is actually quite delicate and can be easily teared, which is why when it has been torn significantly it is usually too dificult to peice back together, its somewhat like wax paper, and when you try to pass stitches through it, it would most likely just tear.
