how do you blow out by changing lanes

i had a blow out on the 401 cause some tool ripped it and cut me off anyways i blew out both rear tires, bent my rear axcels, bent my frame, broke my rear passenger wheel barrings and dented my lower rear fender. now heres the kicker, i didnt hit anything !!! like it just dosent make sence that a blow out can do all that damage, anyone got any ideas on how that happened ? :dunno:

rabbitman 09-30-2007 08:02 PM

Blowing a tire at highway speeds is a good way to damage a car. Look what happens to a transport truck when they blow a tire. BUT, how the hell did you manage to blow BOTH rear tires? I haven't heard of that, since they stopped using bias ply tires in the 60's.

voltar 09-30-2007 10:02 PM

Yah honestly both tires... wtf?

civtegra90 09-30-2007 10:09 PM

wow, how long were the rears locked up for to blow them?

drift_n_shift 09-30-2007 10:22 PM

:S damn dude.

Maybe there was glass or something around that area? Are you going to fix it up or just get another shell?

JayJayJason 09-30-2007 10:46 PM

yeah i fixed it, cost me 1600 bucks including body work, i couldnt believe it though fellas, im driving on the 401 just after the don valley, must of been just after 5, im going to change lanes to go into the collectors and some dude rips it i go to change lanes i see him quick i change back to prevent getting rear ended and as soon as a change it my rear passenger explodes and flattens my rear driver, i spin 3 lanes and im facing traffic, i had to pop it in reverse then spin it around and pull over, you should see the hole on the tire that exploded, like 8 inchs long and then there a huge hole about 2 inches after that

Supra_RZ 09-30-2007 11:15 PM

thats messed up...

+1, probably camber worn all-seasons too.

You don't blow 2 tires unless they were barely safe to begin with.

JayJayJason 10-02-2007 06:06 PM

see i thought that too, but the tires looked fine when i purchased the car, i was thinking something else may be wrong with it cause the hole on the tire is ALL on the side of it, none on the actual thread, thats why im stumped, theres no reasonable explanation myself and various mechanics could come up with based on how i told them it went down. if anyone can help me peice this together i would appreciate it

nascarmaniac 10-02-2007 06:53 PM

i would say a faulty tire but, both of them?
maybe a previous owner got a "deal" from joe smo down the street.

Still doesn't make sense, unless you somehow managed to run over something with the rear tires only, OR, if you had them majorly underinflated, and popped both beads that would make sense.

95ProbeGT_Cory 10-03-2007 09:10 PM

Its possible that one could have blown, and the resulting spin rolled the bead off of the second one.

If its along the side I would imagine its either something rubbing or the tire was severely damaged from under-inflation.

nascarmaniac 10-03-2007 09:28 PM

Ya the spin rolling the bead off the second tire makes sense
the questions i guess are: (like said above) how was the suspension set up?
and how diligent were u with air pressure?
