I [heart] Durham Regional Police

Okay, so I'm out in a field because I have to take a piss, so i run around some trees and down into this ravine thing so that I am out of the way of onlookers.

And as I come down the hill I see this white thing, and from here it looks like a bar fridge or something, but actually, it was this

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1.../File00274.jpg
(the pictures are abit misleading about its size, its about the size of a barfridge, not a rubix cube)

It's a safe O_o, so I looked at it abit, and decide hey maybe I will phone this in to see if its of interest of anyone... So I phone Durham regional police department.

Me: Hey I found this safe out in a ditch I was just wondering if its of interest to anyone

Operator: Yes we are definitly interested in that, what city are you in?

Me: mm just outside of whitby right now...

Operator: Okay thats great yes we are definitly interested in what you have found, and would appreciate it if you take it to your nearest police station!

Me: uhhhmm... take it to my nearest police station?

Operator: Yes, I believe it is around the Anderson / Taunton area

Me: Couldnt you , um, just come look at it instead.....?

Operator: No we would much prefer if you brought it in yourself for clerical purposes and that way we can take down some information about you and...

Me: You want me to take it to the police station

Operator: Yes if you would please take it to your nearest policestatio....

Me: Right, ok, I'll get right on that

*click*

(okay really the conversation went on for about 6 or 7 minutes of me asking why I have to take this safe there when they could come here, and her just saying that ';they would prefer if i took it down and something about clerical work)

...
You want me to lug this 300lb safe (that wont even fit in my car) out of a ditch, and take it to my nearest police station?

No, I dont think so, you guys get paid to deal with crime, I don't. And since your "definitly interested in that" then you know what, you can get off your ass and see it yourself.

And why would I want you taking down information about me? :smilie_d0

So, rest assured, that if something is stolen from your work or home in the durham region, that they are gung ho on finding the perpetrators and recovering your goods..

Funny enough, today while i was at the mall dropping the woman off to run into shoppers i parked behind the female cops cruiser. We are now both in a fire route, except I’m sitting in my car/running.
Well, another local 11 division cop pulls into oncoming at the mall and stares at me (he’s about 1 foot away from my car sitting in his cruiser). He keeps staring at me and i smile. He proceeds to ask me if i plan on staying parked in a fire route?

Me: Yes, why not? (thinking to myself the female peeler is in buying pads with her cruiser shut off)

Him: You're in a fire route!

Me: Well, if the mall starts burning down i will make sure to drive away.

So he proceeded to just stare at me, mind you he did laugh. Figuring this would be a no win situation i proceeded to pull out. What a joke.

So, as I cruise around the parking lot I see a new ford gt, grab the woman, pull out onto Erinmills where there is a 3 car rear end job, no police.

Anyways, sky_kid, you probably would have brought that in, they would have finger printed you and kept you for questioning, F’ that. Its not worth doing the right thing or helping. If you would have fallen and broke your arm they would have been like “you should have let the police do it young man”.

No, the shitty old safe was what he found when he went to the police station. Rookie training I guess.

Durham Police say thieves likely used a website posting to trace a gun owner, break into his Newcastle home, rip his safe off the wall and steal rifles, shotguns, pistols and bullets.

Durham Police Detective Constable Geoff Ingram urged gun owners to be cautious in posting information that could be used to identify themselves. In this case, Ingram said the victim had some guns for sale on a website and posted his home phone number.

The thieves broke in sometime Thursday afternoon and ransacked the home.

The cache of weapons including two rifles, three shotguns, three pistols, two samurai swords and a .50-calibre muzzle loader were all legally owned and stored with trigger locks.

The crooks simply yanked the safe from the wall it was bolted to and escaped, according to Ingram.

Huh, and heres a safe thats been blown open hidden in a ditch.. But I guess they can't be bothered with like evidence, thats for those fancy Toronto cops.
