i fucked up

well i went out last night with some friends and on the way home i decided to " rip a gear " damn was i dumb. it ended up to being a highway run.

when my friend and i exited an unmarked cruiser pulled us over.

it seems he hates street racing and whatever.

cop : do u know i can arrest u for careless driving ?

me : no didn;t know that.

he takes my license , insurance and ownership. then there was a next cop down the street he comes and they start talking very loud about their choices.

arressting me and my friend , pulling our plates and tickets. i think the cop originally didn't wanna pull my plates but cuz the other cop was there he did.

now i am not sure y my car is considered unsafe. it;s not slammed , has no rearward interior and carpet. what is unsafe with that ? cuz it;s gutted ? no one sits there.

so to make a long story short i have 3 SUMMONs to fight now.

unsafe motor vechile

race a motor vechile

careless driving.

these are some serious charges but i will have to get a ticket fighter or maybe fight them myself. this may be easier than it sounds. i have two cop friends that will tell me what to do.

but other than that everything is okie.

oh yah can u guys tell me if this is a myth or truth. the cop said that they will send a letter to my insurance saying my car is modified. can they do this ?

iv seen your car and there is no reason you should be getting an unsafe ticket ,any reason why he might have given u that

Prolly your best shot at those tickets is getting a good ticket fighter and hope the cops a noshow at court

pornosaur 06-02-2005 11:44 AM

You shouldn't be racing at all. What kind of car were you driving?

Strokerace 06-02-2005 01:31 PM

Well the unsafe ticket is obvious, not rear interior. Under the hiway safety standards, there has to be a rear seat if there was one from factory to safety the vehicle. Although this is a bogus charge, you can get this one thrown out of court. The law does not state that you have to have this rear compartment seats install at all times. The only time when this really comes into effect is if you had passengers in the back. Then you must have seat belts for them. All you have to say in court is, you removed them to have it cleaned and you use the car everyday so it wasn't ready when you took the car out. As for the other 2 charges. Did the cop see you racing, if not then the racing charge is harder to enforce. Now for the careless, he has to prove that you were not in control of your car. Seeing he nailed you after you pulled off the hiway, that tells me he really doesn't have much on you. I will say get a good lawyer, not one of those point guys either.

okie guys u have been nothing but helpful and i would like to thank each and everyone of u.

strokerace u have been very helpful but what i wanna know now is this:

since all the reasons u have brought up have been valid should i represent myself in court. i think these ticket guys are a joke.

i know all they do is meet with the cop and have lunch or whatever and talk and try to make a bargin. hell i can do that .

but i am gonna go get the DISCLOSURE ( cop notes on the event that took place.) and see if i can tear apart his arguement.

has anyone ever fought these kinda tickets on their own ? what were ur results and how much is quest and where are they located ????

thanks again for all the good info. :appl: tsr has been nothing but helpful :thumbsup

Some others are going to disagree but don't joke around with those tickets. Hire a professional anmd let them fight it out. Tell them you want all tickets dropped and not simply plead down.

Those are serious charges you've been ticketed for so get some help. If you don't it'll cost you big time in the long run.

That being said, don't stress, 5hit happens, just go with the punches.

Strokerace 06-02-2005 10:04 PM

Yes I agree, don't represt yourself, hire a real lawyer. Sure it might cost you atleast a $1000 or more , but if you do it yourself and lose, the fines alone are well over that and then I know with the careless, its a minimum of a 6 month suspension, and I believe its the same for the racing one. Chances are, the saftey and careless will be thrown out and they will go after the racing one for sure. It will be a long hard battle to get this dropped to a lesser charge too.

pornosaur 06-02-2005 11:10 PM

B6T, Please shut the up, thank you. Not everyone on this site races. I don't come on this site to brag or whatever, I am pretty much on this site just to look around for parts and cars that are for sale. :smilie_fi
