Im confused (setting up cable tv)
So I realized that for the past 4 months Comcast has been charging me for a Digital Reciever and Remote control, of which I have neither. So after getting everything worked out money wise, I decided to pick up the reciever and remote anyways because I want to have surround sound with tv instead of just video games and dvds. Well, I get the reciever and every guide that Ive read on comcast.net and in their manual says that I have to have the reciever connected to a VCR and then the TV.
This confuses me because last year at my old place we did not have a VCR, and still had a digital reciever and it worked fine...of course the cable guy set it up so I dont know what Im exactly doing wrong (note that I dont have a VCR). The Cable Digital Reciever has both an S-video out and an RCA video out along with one set of red and white Audio OUTs My surround sound reciever has 3 video outs (1 RCA, 1 component, 1 S-Video) and 2 Audio INs, one of which is connected to the playstation 2. My TV has 3 Video and Audio INs (including an S-video slot and 1 set of Component slots) can anyone please help me figure this out? I can get it so that I have cable tv with stereo sound, and surround on when I have dvd's or games, but once I try to add the reciever, it all goes to ****. any help would be greatly appreciated :) |
I would say connect the video cable to the TV and the sound ones to the receiver with the RCA's.

I just figured it out....lots of wires, but the trouble was mainly due to comcast giving me the reciever, and then forgetting to activate it
