im done street racing

last night i was in palmdale visiting my friends. we went to the street races out in lancaster. i raced this stock automatic LS1 and a 6 speed LS1 WS6. i knew both the guys and knew i'd lose, so we went for fun. it WAS fun. everyone was like, damn a three way! three of the fastest cars out there kickin ***. other than that it was a good calm night.

then as soon as i left i got a call from my friend who was still out there. somethin bad happened...5 people got hurt. bad. then this morning i hear the news...

Man, that's really sad. That's just one of the reasons it stupid to street race...

MeenZ28 05-21-2007 02:46 AM

It's sad that it takes soemthign like this to get people like you to stop street raceing Caleb. Just glad you finally realize it.

Mikerock 05-21-2007 02:48 AM

yeah its beyond stupid to street race. My coworkers brother just died beacuse he was racing. he burnt to death in his car.

i also wouldn't go boasting about being there either.

NoRiceInside 05-21-2007 03:03 AM

this was my first time going. i'll admit it was exciting. but this incident wasnt related to street racing. it was some guy who was driving on the road, he smashed into a crowd of people on the side of the road.

-Freak- 05-21-2007 07:50 AM

Still indirectly caused by street racing. The crowd was there watching the races.

Glad you had your eyes opened, to bad it had to go to the extremes.

ITSA6 05-21-2007 08:47 AM

that's too bad that happened

87RS 05-21-2007 08:49 AM

yeah thats the hard way to learn things how dose a truck randoly hit a crowd of people on the side ofthe road?

death scares the **** out of me

mxracerbrian 05-21-2007 09:46 AM

bummer to hear

FamousZ 05-21-2007 10:31 AM

That sucks.. Thats a reason why I dont even think about doing it..

Bernotas05 05-21-2007 12:36 PM

Bummer indeed.

I concur.

good lesson to be learned, its not worth the life of others for enjoyment, keep it on a track.

You know, I would say this was the street racers fault, IF the guy hadnt run.

But I agree, closed course racing is the real way to go.

1hottcamaro 05-21-2007 08:02 PM

damn that really is horrible, and the guy that hit them is an *** hole for trying to get away.

Mike Jones 05-21-2007 08:12 PM

Wow that really sucks.

Just another reason I absolutly refuse to race anyone on the street.

blue89vert 05-21-2007 08:14 PM

thats really sad. makes me want to not street race even though i know i will be tempted and want to do it.

NoRiceInside 05-21-2007 08:25 PM

well i talked to my friend again. the guy was drunk.

i know its dangerous street racing anyway, but this had nothing to do with it. ironic.

FORCE_FED_Z 05-22-2007 04:28 PM

Couldn't be that possibly the guy was there watching, drinking and having a 'good time'- he leaves and then smokes some people standing by the side of the road? I think that might still relate to street racing.

I totally understand the thrill and high you get from street racing. I did it once- about 6 years ago, but it was middle of the night on a straight flat road with only a couple people there. Ended up getting caught but not charged which was a miracle. The track is a lot more fun IMO. You get to see a lot more cars, don't have to constantly watch behind your back for cops, and don't have to worry about getting your license pulled and going to jail. Not to mention the walls down the track protect the bystanders from getting plowed into.

Fuggin A!

plus you get time cards and all the cool benefits of the timer system and you can go up to any old joe you think u can beat and be like "hey, line up against me?" and usually the people at the track are just as cool and smart(prolly way smarter actually, hehe) than the jocks on the street.

I have no problem with street racing if its done semi responsibly, Where we used to street race in Florida there was absolutely no traffic at all at night and there was one way in and one way out, If another car was coming we could see them coming from a long way off.

All street racing is unsafe and stupid. You can never be completely safe and way to many innocience people have died because other's were being selfish. Race at the track, if you hurt or kill yourself that's fine. You decided to take that risk and only people racing are going to get hurt. On the street some mom trying to take her kids to the park will be in the car next to you and will be the one to get hurt since they aren't watching for cars doing 100+ MPH and they shouldn't have to.
I saw some of the street racing when I was in Florida and it was completely insane. The most hardcore racing I have ever seen in my life.

ITSA6 05-23-2007 12:53 AM

haha the ricers try to street race here in sioux city but they get shut down every single night almost nothing ever happenes but they all keep trying

Mikerock 05-23-2007 04:37 AM

i don't street race beacuse the road can't handle my 70hp of FURY!!!!!!!

Bernotas05 05-23-2007 07:16 AM

Yea street racing is stupid, I'll admit I street raced for a lil while when I first got my DL. But That soon changed after I watched two of my friends die in a car crash during a street race. Still to this day I have flash backs of it when im driving sometimes. If you want to race take it too the track, Dont say ohh the road is clear and you could see if anyone is coming because there is always the risk there.
