Intel Conroe E6300

So, I'm going to be building a new computer from scratch in the next month or so.

I'm looking at a new ATX mid tower, the Nvidia 570 motherboard and probably a gig or so of Kingston or Corsair DDR2.

I'm going to wait for a few months to get a vid card so I can (hopefully) get the nVidia 8800 for cheap(er) Since it's the only DX-10 vid card right now...oh and the 8600....which I need since I'll be building this system to run Windows Vista.

Now the only question is a CPU. I've researched the Conroe quite a bit and it's KILLING the AMD FX60....that's sick.

Does anybody have any experience with the Conroe?

It's supposed to be an overclocker's dream.....they've been known to be able to take a 150% overclock....that's 4 gig per core!!!!! And apperently at that over clock they are still very stable and don't get much hotter than normal.
Also, people are getting 2 gig+ bus speeds too.....that's sick....can you imagine running the top of the line vid card and still being bottle necked at it? Very cool.

Spend less money on the rig and put it into a 5L :)

Im still running an xp 2500 with an asus mb and nvidia 6600 GT.

Box still hauls and plays most games with ease, BF2142 has been a bit tough on her.

Newest technology costs, why not step a few steps back ?

the 5L will have it's time.....pretty soon too.(month or 2)

The cpu isn't gonna cost much more than 500 bucks and I shouldn't have to upgrade anything but the vid card for about 4 years.

A buddy of mine has the nVidia 6800 overclocked to pretty much the same speed as a 7600GT. yer not that far behind.....sounds like it's still a pretty respectable system.
