Interior Plans

Alright, so I wanted to get a general idea of what people thought of the plans I have for my interior. Be warned, if you think my exterior is "overdone" the interior is going to be worse. ;)

My interior is going to consist of three colors/textures. Red, black, and carbon fiber. Here are the plans:

Door Panel
The doors are going to change. When I think of door panels, I think our 4th gen door panels are... well... useless. An armrest, and what more do you need? So, what I plan to do is chop the bottom "trash bin" off, and have the door panel be ONLY the armrest and the surface above it that's painted plastic right now. I'm going to cover the armrest portion of the door panel with carbon fiber, that way theres no chance of the paint rubbing through to being grey. The top portion of the plastic part of the door panel will be smoothed out to remove the texture and then painted black. Since the bottom portion of the door panel is going to be missing that big chunk where the "trash bin" used to be, I *might* consider putting a bigger speaker down there with a tweeter or something to increase audio quality, but I'm not positive.

Front Interior Compartment
First and foremost: Get the god **** carPC working. :eleph: Bright red plush carpeting, like Grant's. Dash: totally smoothed out, and repainted black with many layers of clearcoat to really give it a glossy depth. I was even tempted to do a layer or two of resin ontop of the pieces, to almost make them truely look fiberglassed. The top of the center console will stay black carbon fiber, I'm going to redo the console lid so it matches well with the shift panel and isn't so yellow hued. The rest of the center console (the bottom half) will be painted red to match the carpet. As for the seats, I'm still undecided. It's either reupholstered seats with black and red, or true black and red corbeau racing seats.

Rear Interior Compartment
Smoothed out panels, removing the texture, painted black with red accents, maybe a layer of resin or two over the panels again to really give it a thick clear glossy look. Rear seat delete. Fiberglass a custom enclosure which will hold a fire extinguisher (god I wish I could find a carbon fiber one, though...) two 10" subs and an amp to power them. This enclosure will integrate with the center console, so it will look like two seats in a pod... Claustraphobics stay away. ;)

Hatch/Trunk Compartment
Smoothed out panels, again, same thing going on back there. Red carpet back here too, with a first aid and tool kit sitting on the flat section that's carpetted. The t-top storage holder will stay the same, no need to change it.

So, all in all, the color concept will be red, black, carbon fiber. I want the colors to be red as the "bottom level" color, IE on the floor and such. Carbon fiber as the "middle level" color, IE on the arm rest, top of the center console, etc. And lastly, black being the "top level" color, covering most of the panels and such. Obviously, my car is going to be the true epitomy of a Project Camaro, as it's going to be 100% custom and 100% showcar. The major changes to the interior (the 100% truely custom things) won't begin until I have a beater, as most of this is going to knock my car into undriveable status. All in all, the most expensive part of it will be the front seats. The rest of it is just labor, smoothing panels and painting. Shouldn't be too hard to do, but I think it should look freaking sweet when it's done.

...So what do you guys think? :D

you know I hate carbon fiber, but you like it so go for it, it sounds like your going to keep it tastefull so it should be allright

Sounds like a plan but Brian, when you hooking me up and carbon fibering my interior? I'll pay you in foam peanuts!

meissen 09-30-2005 11:53 PM

:lolsign: Oh god that brings back the good memories. You used so many friggen foam peanuts in that box, I went swimming in them to get the grill out -- just to find out that my dad stole it out of there!

Oh, and as far as the Carbon fiber goes, when I finish my carbon fiber projects, I'll do it for you. By the time I finish it, I'll be comfortable enough with the finished product to do it for other people's cars and charge. :eleph: :eleph:
