Post Looking for a good camcorder.

Been looking for a good camcorder for the last few days. I have a digital camera but I need something more for cruise nights. Plus I'm 20 so I better start recording moments of my youth since I do not have much of it left.

I'm on a student budget so I cannot afford a $1,200 camera but I think these may work. If anyone can offer any opinions or what to look for when buying a camcorder that would be great.

exactly. I'm not sold on digital ones since the current ones are about to be obsolete if and when the new dvd format is settled on

Yep so mini DV it is for now, I have roughly $300+ to spend. Can that get me a nice unit or should I just hold off for now?

Hold up the JVC uses a tape? Kind of a problem since I do not own a VCR.

don't need one (you can't play the dv tape in a vcr or anything but a camera) the dvd based cameras (aka sony) are a joke even sony doesn't like them

So basically it uses the same recording media as the JVC I linked to Circuit City?

Hmmm, I'm comparing yours to the CC model. It seems they are both pretty close. Yours might be a better option though since Rita destroyed the only CC in the area.
