Most computer FS forums I go to don't tolerate lowballing, or even negotiating inside the thread. PM or emailing somebody really isn't that hard.

Were going to eliminate the low balling by removing users rights to reply to threads in the classifieds.

On a side note, its a real hassle dealing with some of the kids on various forums. Tire kickers and dreamers. Waiting on bank loans or their parents to say its ok to buy a mustang... Its a real joke... and not all are kids.... but what can you do

Good Idea. I hate having to check the thread in 15 different forums looking if people reply.

Only thing I hate more than low ballers are dreamers and tire kickers. I had my car in Autotrader for 2 months last summer and every week some kid called and said "Hi how much for you car and can I come drive it?" and then some 17 year old who you just KNOW doesn't have $15,000 show up, well if I had $1000, I could afford to write my car off right now and not give a about selling it.

I don't understand why it's so tough for kids to sit down and realize "hey I don't got $15,000, why am I going to go waste this guys time, with a car I'll never own".

i think its due to Dreamanitus

Worst part is, so many people are suspect. Like they call and just say "give me your address and where is the car parked"
Ok, sure, you havent given me a name, you called CALL BLOCK and you havent given your number or even asked anything other than for my addy and where the car is parked... :knock_tee

Yea right, enough crooks out there willing to jack a car, im not going to offer directions.. ..

Or the other great thing you see in classifieds is people selling, who when you want to go buy either say they dont want to sell it anymore, or raised the price becuase their buddy has offered them more 2 weeks from then :D

Meh, I'd give them directions to come see it. If they steal I'd I still get the insurance $$$. For a newer cars (higher insurance value than older cars with $$$ invested) that your not attached to and are selling for specific purposes, it really doesn't matter how you get rid of it, just that you get rid of it and collect money in the process. Someone wants to steal it, be my guest. I won't hand you the keys or help you steal it but if I leave it in my driveway with the alarm on and I wake up in the morning and it's not there, its your fault.

My girls 2000 Civic was stolen a while back and its resale was like $10,000 MAYBE. Insurance company gave her $12,500 because they determined that they figure it was worth that much to replace it. I nearly died when I heard her father say the insurance company offered her "replacement value" over the cars actual value. Imagine getting replacement value for your car if it was stolen

That's bullshit man. I give people one price and usually they can't even afford that much.

Doesn’t it raise your insurance premium if your car gets stolen?

It didn't raise my girlfriends. If it did that would be a ridiculous practice...someone has there car stolen and they pay more for insurance, another car gets stolen, higher insurance once again, car gets stolen a 3rd time and now they can't afford insurance....seems ridiculous to me.

There are also a lot of cases of people trying to sell items for a lot more than they are worth. Hacked up xbox's for more than they are new in futureshop, and the entire car audio for sale forum are pretty good examples. It's kind of a cycle, people ask too much, so they get low-balled, so they ask for more next time, so they get ever lower offers...

adamo 03-28-2005 06:37 AM

Deal with the weasles all the time.

Are you really in Japan, dude hook me up with some cheap parts.
Little do these tards know that J-parts are sometimes more expensive.
