Three movies, first two are the GPS running, the last one is me navigating the interface showing some features. These are large in size, the last one being 40MB.

can you get the radio with the pc?

meissen 10-23-2005 02:11 PM

I've seen a few of the frontend programs have buttons to do FM interfacing, but I hadn't ventured into that. I'm guessing there's some software & hardware out there to get an FM receiver plugged into your computer, guessing through USB or serial. Personally, I just used the soundout from the motherboard and plugged it into my Aux-In plug on my headunit. So I can still listen to the radio, listen to the CD player, or I can set the src as Aux and it will play whatever sound is coming from the carPC.

Nice ProjectCamaro.com in the Camaro!!

Bookmarked it too, put it in the toolbar for easy reference next time. :p I really want to go drive around and see what networks I find.

Leave it on the page when you go to carshows. Easy Advertisement.

you gotta wireless receiver in it and you just get internet at your house or is it some kinda wifi thing?

meissen 10-23-2005 04:23 PM

I have a wireless router in my house, and I purchased a wireless USB adapter off ebay. Works great, just plug it into your USB port and instant wireless access. I was actually accessing someone else's network, I don't know who's it was though. My network's SSID is "meissen" and has WEP encryption on it. When it searched for networks, it found bjamet and linksys, so I connected to the linksys one since it obviously wasn't configured or protected -- sure enough, connected right up. The signal strength is low for the most part, but I can still get a connection so that's what counts. I just need to set it up to give me an actual connection to MY network so I can access my shared folders. :D

Also, another plus, the two counties I live in (I'm right on the border of the two) are working on a county-wide wireless network system to be available by the end of next year.

McGruff 10-23-2005 06:16 PM

cingular has some wi-fi towers that would give you internet off of cell phone towers. Not many places have it yet, but I know some of the new Sony laptops use that technology - may be something to look at...

meissen 10-23-2005 06:29 PM

Definitely will keep it in mind. I want to use that PhonoControl portion (You can see in the menu screen, there's a Phone button) to control the phone and make and receive calls and stuff like that. It's only capatible with GSM network phones, though. Of course, Sprint doesn't use the GSM network, they use the CSDA or something like that. So I am thinking about changing to something else, especially since the service here sucks. Someone will call my phone, I'll be sitting right here, and it won't even ring, just goes straight to voicemail. Sometimes people call and it won't ring and they'll hang up before the voicemail and it won't even tell me that I had a missed call, hate sprint's service here in my area.
