My first speeding ticket
So I'm heading home from picking up my gf,and I'm havin some fun racing home. I live on a busyish street, so it's really easy to speed. Anyways, as i turn onto my street. 12 blocks away from home. I see a import fly by me. So I deside to chase him down. He turns off right as I catch him. And a cop passes me at the same time.We are in a 50km zone(30mph) and I'm doing 115km(70mph ish).So I try I get home befor the cop catches up,but no such luck.So I end up with just a $140 speeding ticket, b/c he didn't have his radar on(THANK GOD)So I got off pretty lucky.

You are pretty lucky, I think in Pennsylvania if you go 25mph over you get your license taken away.
|
wow yeah pretty lucky. next time just pull in a random driveway and turn your car off. then he can think your home. nothin he can do then :)

Sorry to hear about your ticket, I don't look forward to getting my first one. |
That sucks, Maybe it will teach you not to speed.
|
The ****** thing was,I got stuck at a red light 3 blocks from home, and thats when the cop catched me.If the light was green,I would have made it home ticket free. But whatever,it's only $140.

haha damn van city cops hey? We got the rcmp and there pretty heavy by the book as Im sure you have run in to probably in the past too. The odd one is cool but not many. Years ago we got chased and pulled into a industrial complex and hid behind a building. (got away lol) I wasent speeding, a friend wanted me to make a turn and was like "oh its too late" and was like nah, slammed the brakes and went through the light (green). Guess the cop didnt like the fast stop?

One tip that has helped a friend of mine. If he didnt have his radar on, then he legally has to follow you a minimum of about 4 city blocks and clock you with his car or else the ticket is no good.
Another way to get off is to schedual your court date on the same day the officer has off. You can call in and request to see what days he works, the cop most likely wont show up. But from what I hear, now they pay the officers for there days off when they are called in so they tend to show up now. At least you didnt get a excessive speeding ticket, points alone are brutal! lol |
well if i pay within 30 days,I get $30 off.So it's not really worth fighting. But ya,those points can really **** you.
|
haha yeah they can be worse than the ticket itself. Hey are you going to the Langley Good Times Cruise-In this year?
|
mitigate your ticket and get your fine reduced, unless the laws are different from where you live.
|
well damn for 70 in a 30 you need a ticket haha

And about the driveway being home thing- it never has stopped me- I have stopped many people in their driveways, it doesn't matter. That is an urban legend that if you pull in a driveway you are homefree, don't believe it. And as far as fighting the ticket on a cops day off- unless I've already worked a ton of overtime I will come in for court on a day off. Court takes less than hour, and its an automatic 4 hours overtime when you come in for court when you aren't working. So please, make me come in on my day off...:D p.s.- in NY cops that are radar certified first have to be certified on visual estimation of speed so I could write speeding tickets on visual estimation and never turn on my radar. I'm sure other states are different, but at least NY has made it easy on cops. |
dont be a dirty cop now ;), jk, yea Id have to say, ive slowed a lot more down lately due to police being everywhere now these days...which is thier job, so its all good.

you are so lucky he didn't have his radar... if you were in Ontario, they would have impounded your car and suspended your license on the spot...
