need help with swap (d16y8)

i was wondering if anyone did a d16y8 from the 96-00 civic si swap into a 92-95 civic eg. my question is what is the easiest and cheapest way to do this swap and will it pass emissions.

should i use the 96 harness and the 96 (p2p) ecu? and have everything running in OBD2

or should i use my stock 92 si harness and my stock p28 ecu and rewire the dizzy, and have everything in OBD1

and will it pass emissions.?

you'll have to re-use the EG's mounts b/c the d16y8 uses different engine mounts.

Converting the car to obd2 will be a pain in the ass. You'll have to wire up the secondary o2 sensor after the cat in order to keep the CEL off and pass emissions properly.

I'd just stay obd1, chip your ecu and run a d16y8 program. You'll have to rewire a few plugs, such as the dizzy, the IAT sensor (obd2 engines don't have them on the intake manifold like obd1 cars do and they use a different style sensor with a different clip on it) the EVAP purge solenoid (obd2 cars use a different style EVAP with a different plug), the alternator will be different (obd1 uses a round style plug whereas obd2 uses a rectangular plug) and the injectors will be different (obd2 uses different injector clips than obd1).

OR you could just re-use the obd1 injectors, alternator and EVAP to save you from having to do some wiring, but you'll still have to modify the dizzy (or the engine harness) and the IAT.

If you stay obd1 you'll have an extra sensor/clip hanging by the oil pump, don't worry, thats the CKF sensor that only the obd2 ecus use....the obd1 ecu will not need this sensor, so just leave it unplugged (the obd1 engine harness won't have a plug for this).

It should pass emissions ok if its OBD1, hell i've done turbo'd LSvtec converted to obd1 (in an EK) that passed a legit etest and a fully built b16 turbo del sol that passed a legit etest. If they can pass, i'm sure a d16y8 in an EG will pass.
