Which position?

stop thinking about sex you dirty bastards! i know what you were thinking...

but no this is about a job app. i picked one up for vince's pasta and pizza...they have openings for dishwashers and drivers.

i think a driver would be fun since i love my car and i'd get to work in it and wont need to deal with customers as much as a counterperson or busser. i dont know if they'd pay me gas, i know dominos does, but it wont matter cuz i'd get tips. one thing they've been teaching me in economics is that making yourself scarce is the way to get a good job...well i'm 18 and have been driving for 2 years...its nothing special but hell its better than the last time i applied for a job.

i hear a dishwasher sucks cuz your hands get grimey and crap and its a hot work environment.

yeah that pretty much goes in favor of driver, but i just thought i'd get your foos opinions :D

JimmyFrance 04-13-2005 10:07 PM

Dishwasher. Driving puts miles on the car quickly.

Mike Jones 04-13-2005 10:11 PM

My brother use to deliver pizza. You can make really good money at it but you spend time at some really bad places and it really kills your car. Plus your car will smell like pizza the entire time.

NoRiceInside 04-13-2005 10:15 PM

about the miles jimmy...i just rebuild the top end with entirely new parts...so what if i get miles my cars gonna last for another 100k. but yeah i will have to go to a few bad places...but for the most part the place is on the west side so its not bad, but how is my car smelling like pizza bad???

meissen 04-13-2005 10:28 PM

i think the driver sounds like a good idea.

Drake 04-13-2005 10:29 PM

My old roommate used to deliver pizza. He said the money was pretty good, but people got really b*tchy sometimes about the delivery and such. You'd still have to deal with crappy customers as a driver......

Dishwashing sucks though.

no_eye_candy 04-13-2005 10:45 PM

my friend has been a driver for years so it must not be that bad. thats what i would go with

plus dirty dishes erk me

XJonesyX 04-13-2005 10:47 PM

I wouldnt deliver pizzas in that car. Yeah you might have 100k left on the motor or whatever but you have to think about ALL the suspension and everything else that goes aloong with driving it like that. I say dishwasher.

NCamaro94 04-13-2005 10:52 PM

i would take driving over dish washing and bussing. but w/e happened to the pep boys job?

doggy style

NoRiceInside 04-13-2005 11:40 PM

haha. you guys crack me up.

but yeah thats a good point jonesy...i'd definitely need more frequent oil changed and brake jobs...but hey i do all that myself :D

camaro94 04-14-2005 12:14 AM

I'd stay away from driver if its a really busy place. It kills cars, regardless of how new they are. Half the guys at the local Pizza Hut have blown their cars up because of how much driving goes on, and its not like the cars were unhealthy or anything. Its just very hard on a car. Though this one dude always delivered his pizza in his '80 Camaro. Dam that thing was awesome. I used to order the pizza just so I would get to look at the car. If you went for driver I'd buy a beater that you wouldn't care or miss when it croaks.

archemedes 04-14-2005 12:16 AM

a friend of mine was a driver and made the payments on his brand new truck off the tips alone

i dont know that is a possibility...but i only plan on working here for awhile...im still going to look for something in the automotive field.

Mikerock 04-14-2005 12:55 AM

It sounds like both of these jobs suck. I was a dish washer at an old folks home for about a month, that was not fun in the least. Get a job at a grocery store or something, anything union is good, they treat their people well. im assuming you don't have much experience??

archemedes 04-14-2005 12:57 AM

and how many grocery stores in your area are union? there are none in AL right now (kroger is moving in soon)driver should pay more than dishwasher dishwasher would pay about the same as any other minimum wage job

NoRiceInside 04-14-2005 01:05 AM

all grocery stores here are union...vons, albertsons, ralphs...but its not as good as it sounds. my friend works there and theyre always finding ways to get people fired without the union...it sucks.

but yeah arch youre probably right...driver probably gets paid more...and tips rule!

Dcalado_ 04-14-2005 01:09 PM

you guys have to use your own cars to deliver pizza? i deliver pizza and the place provides the cars for us... its kinda fun ripping around in little cavaliers and not have to care if u break anything

Depends on where you live, back when I was in high school i used to work at Dominos, our drivers would get robbed more frequently then youd expect. But theres some tough neighborhoods round here so i guess it was to be expected. If its safe go 4 it. Id buy a beater tho just to mob around in for work and keep the camaro for what its been used for up to this point.

all depends on the place most don't provide cars here because it adds alot of cost killing profits

RFF 04-14-2005 03:37 PM

Might as well give up on looking for a job at a parts store. I work at one and I hate it with a passion.

[start rant]working in a union sucks ***. I started working at a grocery store as a bagger the day after my 14th birthday, and I had to become a union member. They took like 15% to 20% of my check out in "Union Dues" for some ******** union that didn't do jack **** for me, I was a measly bagger.. I didn't care about a Union. I got paid minimum wage, which also was not thanks to the union. After I worked there for 2 years, I left the grocery store and went to work at a retail store starting minimum wage (by the time I left, I had worked at Farmer Jack for 2 years, so I was at somewhere like 6.30 an hour) and I still came home with more money working at TJ Maxx at minimum wage working less hours than I did at Farmer Jack with union dues even tho I made more there. :banghead: [/end rant]

archemedes 04-14-2005 11:32 PM

farmer jack sucks their union is corrupt (that's why the company is barely hanging on)

camaro94 04-14-2005 11:41 PM

I've never even heard of farmer jack...

about unions... unions can be good or bad, depending on the union itself.

about the pizza...some places around here have delivery cars(if they are a bigger chain)but the smaller places make you use your own car.

Stupid people are everywhere. You'd be surprised by how many people don't even know what shoe size they wear. :banghead:

JimmyFrance 04-15-2005 09:47 PM

Your wrong...albertsons is NOT union. I know because i worked there as a bag ***** for 6 months.
