So, who wants to see pics of the new pet?

I said a few weeks ago, that my darling little Imp died, so the other day when I was at the mall, I picked up his replacement. I'd like you to meet my not so little Zombie. She's a big gal. She looks to be about 6 inches long or so, and a hefty weight for her size. I put a comparison shot to Imp. The spoon is the one I used to scoop Imp out of the cage in. He fit it perfectly, where as Z barely fits in it at all. Imp is the scorp in the first pic. Also, she's tons nicer than him, she left both of us hold her with a minimum of fuss.

Hmm scorpion as a pet...
Has the poison been removed or something? |
no, they are au naturale ;). And this is my fourth one. I had an Emperor before this one (Imp), but he went a little nuts after the last batch of crickets(internal parasites) and I have an Arizona Hairy named Djinni, who is the successor to Hobgoblin, who was sick when I brought him home from the pet store (he only lived one day). These two are only mildly venemous, comparable to a wasp sting, unless you are allergic. I do plan on getting some of the hotter species this winter.

can u hold them or would u get pwnt?
|
this is the one I'm getting for my birthday:
OLIVE-KEELED FLAT ROCK SCORP (mildly venemous) http://botarby8s.com/images/scorpions/hpaudensis2.jpg and this one a few months after that: Red Thick-Tail (venom is considered medically significant and dangerous) http://botarby8s.com/images/scorpions/bjacksoni2.jpg My husband wants to buy an Egyptian DeathStalker, the most hottest (venomous) scorp known to man. There a few other species I want to, I hope to have at least ten species or so. |

the ones I have? Djinni really doesn't let anyone hold him, he's way too fast. Imp(when he was alive), I wouldn't put my hand within 5 inches of the little devil, he was very aggressive (exact opposite of his species) and Zombie of the same species, while slightly jumpy is tons more laid back and the day I brough her home I transfered her by hand from one cage to another and she was cool. |
ahh thats cool
Dunno if i like venomus things thoe |
I think this is what I'm getting Ryan for his birthday:

lol why all these weird pets?
|
While I dont believe i'd be afraid of a pet scorpion, I dont think i'd be in any hurry to hold or 'pet' one.
|
I never cared for the "odd" pets the closest I ever came to one was a lizard. I just don't like any pet that has to stay in a cage (I make an exception for fish though)
|
cause they're much better than normal ones. I do have a dog, too. But exotics are much more interesting to watch. I've always had snakes and lizards. I do miss my snake. I need to get another one.

Those are awesome, Danielle! That spider is a little more than I'd be able to handle, but the scorpions are sweet looking. My girlfriend is against the creepy crawlies, will only let me get fish and she's still undecided on a bird (for reasons of if we were to go out on vacation who would watch it) but we'll see. Congrats on the new pet!

yea i wouldnt probably own one, im really only like a dog person, i always stay away from scorpions and spider and stuff outside though cause i dont know which is which and the venom strength seems to vary so much im not gonna take my chances when i dont know what im doing, but how long do scorpions usually live on average? (im just curious)

definatly not a creepy critter kind of guy but hey good for you if that's what you like...they look pretty cool to
