Street Racing Bill dies???

McGuinty Government Blocks Street Racing Bill

(Queen’s Park) Despite an eleventh hour appeal by Oak Ridges MPP Frank Klees to get the Street Racing Bill passed before the legislature recessed for the summer, the McGuinty government refused to enact the legislation.

Klees repeated his call for the government to include the Bill in the final package of Bills that are fast-tracked in the final hours of the legislative session.

"Going into the summer without this legislation passed is unconscionable" said Klees. “This was the government's opportunity to send a strong message that street racing will not be tolerated in this province, and that there will be serious consequences for those who risk innocent lives through this irresponsible activity".

Klees pointed out that there was plenty of time for the legislature to deal with the Bill.

“This clearly is not an important issue for the government. Rather than take the time to pass this legislation, they chose to shut down the legislature early,” said Klees, noting that there was still one and a half hours left on the clock when the government adjourned the legislature for the summer.

:dunno: if its true.. what do you guys think?

The Provincial bill imposes fines and suspensions. The Federal bill imposes jail time.

Remember, it's the Federal Gov't that has the jurisdiction to change the Criminal Code of Canada, Not the Provincial Gov't.

The fact that the Province wouldn't pass the bill for the summer means nothing, it's the Fed's we have to worry about. When is their last day?

Kuztom Freak 06-29-2006 01:37 AM

ahhhh, nothing like skipping work early before holidays. as said tho, this bill really means squat, govs got enough real shite to deal with, this is BS to them, its all just politicians trying to make a name for themselves, cuz the big boys in office know this:
OPP have mentioned many times b4 that the GTA alone has 30, 000+ illegal racers, multiply that by at least 10 races each a week = 300,000 races, and out of that theres only a few accidents, thats less than one hundreth of a percent [0.001%] for accidents (if my maths is right) and maybe less. Now on any given day in the GTA with 3,000,000 drivers, there are at least 300 acidents (mainly fender benders) with about 20 serious accidents, so easily 1,000 accidents a week, a much higher rate than racing accidents (yer 10-100 times more likely to have a non-racing accident), sorry my math is fugged up butcha get the point. so there are way more bad "regular" drivers out there driving normally than there are racers driving all out. Does a bill exist for these idiot drivers to put them in jail when they have accidents with 7 ppl in their cars, NOPE. They pick on racers and enthusiasts cuz its tha hot topic now. I see big rigs in my area outright run red lights at top speeds and they get nada tickets or jail sentences, a big rig can kill dozens of ppl running one red light, wheres all the media rage on that huh?

its all BS and the gov doesnt wanna spend $$$ on enforcing this cuz theres lil if any progress or capture rate for cops (no turn over), so its $$$ wasted that could go for other police services/programs, thats mainly why you see these police/community programs.

I also see cops running reds or changin (sweeping) multiple lanes at one swoop without even signaling and for no reason other than they can get away with it, ive on occasion seen these guys get into accidentd doin it - is there a higher penalty for cops who KNOW BETTER - nope, if a cop is chasing someone or just speeding (racing) to get to a call and hits an innocent person and kills them - do they go to jail/have car impounded/seized/crused/licence removed/etc.. like a suposed racer - no fukken way, why not, whats the difference?????? emergency/towtrucks/cops kill more ppl on GTA roads every year than racers do, by far. Big double standard. Next time you see a cop do this, especially if they hit someone, post it and raise hell and notify the media

NEW MEDIA TREND - HEADLINES
"police gone wild, cops killing more ppl than racers? what are their sentences? victims outraged, why do they get away with it, new gov bill proposed for bad driving cops to lose jobs without pay, compensate families, lose licences for life, 10 yrs jail time" tee hee hee

Time to raise hell boys n girls, ha ha ha

Im a shite disturber

hey moderators - maybe move this post to a new thread, shitz n giggles, so everyone can see, lol

Low-Low 06-29-2006 04:22 PM

30,000+ illegal racers. That merits a track alone. Wow.

Kuztom Freak 06-29-2006 08:26 PM

ya, it was an estimated 32,000 racers, I heard that repeatedly by OPP a couple years ago myself a bunch of times, but its not just drag racers, it was for all kinds of racers, another estimate is that there are 237,000+ special interest vehicle owners in ontario. We are a force for sure, but we are sooo unorganized and many of us (not me personally) don't get along with diff sub car cultures n such, too bad. Now dont quote me on those figures, its what I heard from many different sources.

1sykcord 07-10-2006 07:12 PM

I heard as soon as the bill was introduced that it would most likely not pass till the house was back in session after summer. Doesn't surprise me. MP's say alot of things to get votes. That includes bullshit too.

:werd:

and just last night i saw a cop car turn on its lights coming out of esso..so ppl would slow down...but it sped away with its lights off there was no call... no siren...

and i remember last summer 2 po cars at a red light..one behind the other...there was no traffic so it sirened for a second ..took a left..and they both sped away through a red

one more..lol i was on the highway last week doing 120 in the most left lane..i didnt do more cuz cop car was on my ass...well i kept at it for a while and he got tired of staying behind me so he tailgates me to the point that i swear he wanted to give it to me from behind...he goes half into the shoulder lane doing that and basically forces me to switch lanes..i was like wtfff
