Wii clames first victim
heard this on KDWB (local radio station) this morning.... I guess a radio station in Cali had a contest to see who could drink the most water without having to pee or throw up and the winnner would winna wii. well one lady won and later she died from it.
heres the link people are idiots. im sure those djs feel like asses for letting that happen. A Californian woman died of water poisoning after taking part in a bizarre drinking contest to win a computer games console, according to US authorities. Jennifer Strange, 28, was found dead in her home in Rancho Cordova, California, on Friday after drinking as much water as she could without going to the toilet A preliminary investigation by the local coroner determined that her death was “consistent with a water intoxication death”. It is not yet known how much water she drank. Ms Strange, a mother-of-three, had taken part in radio station KDND 107.9’s “hold your wee for a Wii” contest, in a bid to win a Nintendo Wii video games system. |
yeah i saw that on tv yesterday....water intoxication...i didn't know that was possible. dumb people i tell ya. still sad to here though
That is really messed up. Dang....
I feel bad for the kids.
Just wow.
Yeah Ive heard of drinking too much water... pretty scary. I bet those guys feel liek real jackasses right now.
i wouldnt think they would come back to work...

yaa that is unfortuniate, a few years a go a kid in a fraternity died becasue of "water intoxication" the frat made him drink too much water instead of beer, its when your bodies cells try to maintain equilebrium in the cells becasue the cells become hydrolitic to the amout of water concentration around....in simple terms the water rushed into her cells, popping them and eventually her internal organs failed...what an unfortunaite way to die over a game system
saw that like monday or tuesday. and yea like z28 killah said, it basically swells up your organs and causes you to die. sad story.
On Tuesday, KDND's parent company, Entercom/Sacramento, fired 10 employees connected to the contest, including three morning disc jockeys. The company also took the morning show off the air.
wow thats nuts
that is crazy and really to bad too
i honestly dont see why the radio station is to blame. drinking all that water was completely voluntary. the ***** was just stupid enough to win.
Its just wrong that they didnt look into it before hand and know the possible damage of drinking that much water.
