Wii out sells 360 in total sales to date...
 

I just saw it on TV as of the end of august the Wii has sold 9 million consoles, 360 is at 8.9 million, and ps3 in last with 3.7 million sold. Pretty crazy when you consider how long the 360 has been out and the wii has just come out not long ago...price and the fact the Wii is different really helped. As always the big N does it right and is number 1 again.

minus the time the n64 was outsold by the playstation, and the gamecube outsold by the playstation 2...but who's really counting??


I gotta admit, I'm amazed at those figures for the Wii...kinda had it made out to be a console that would die down since it's platform is so different from that of mainstream consoles, but damn that's cool

and the Wii is affordable at 250$, thats why it sold so many units, def a bigger appeal to younger gamers, Paar, dont you have a wii or is the mxbrian?

Good to hear, both the the Wii and 360 deserve to be at the top and the PS3 deserves to be at the bottom for it's stupidly high price.

The big N does it right as in 1st party games, Sure the cube and 64 didnt always get number 1, But they both are more well known over the PS1 and PS2 to have GREAT 1st party games. Find a game on ps1 or ps2 that can beat out....Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Mario Kart 64, super mario 64, smash bros series, Zelda series, metriod prime. The fact nintendo is smart and always thinks of the games before any other feature such as dvd playback.

Older brother got one awhile ago... I havent touched it.... I settled with the PS2.

Yeah without even looking at statistics I would have to say the 64 was more popular... the majority of my freinds or people I know that game will have more to say about that than a ps1. The ps2 is good, i still enjoy mine. Im glad I own one of each system I can get the best of all worlds wether its PC, PS2, Wii or 360, I can figure out what games I like and what system. Some systems are better for some games than others.

I guess there can't be any argument there...sony has never relied on it's first party developers, and only the Gran Turismo series has really been their strongpoint. Oddly enough though Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec has sold 11 million copies to date - the same as Mario 64, and beating out all of the others you listed (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ng_video_games) Placing faith in first party developers has always been risky and was the cause of Sega's demise, and low(er) N64 and Gamecube sales (Gamecube was rendered as a failure of 6th gen consoles for Nintendo...selling only some odd 21 million (N64 has sold 32 million to date), as opposed to nearly 118 million of PS2's, and 102 million Playstations) Making great first party games may make consumers happy, but history has proven that it isn't the best money-making strategy.

i have a wii too. all games are fun on it. :)

What the Wii has done for the most part is go back to making simple fun games. Developers over complicate games too much. They try to make everything so realistic that it stops being fun. Yes great graphics are cool and all, but when it comes down to it, I still have more fun playing older styled platformers. My favorite game for the Wii was Super Paper Mario. It may not have been a graphics giant, but it was simple to play, very old school, and that sucked me in.
