Wireless Internet

Ok I was having some problems with my laptop but then again I bought it off eBay and never reinstalled Window's so I have no idea what was on it. So I reinstalled XP and all my programs but now my wireless won't work. I currently have it hooked up to my docking station which is hooked dirrectly up to my router so that's how I'm using the internet right now.

I tried to add it to the network I set up here at home with my laptop and my wife's. Now it says either the wireless adapter or software isn't installed. It obviously has to be the software. Does anyone know how to get it? I have no idea what kind of adapter I have, how do I figture that out to do it.

I have that wireless antenna crap built into my computer. Never use it though! What kinda computer do u have?

Mike Jones 02-26-2007 08:13 PM

Mine's built in as well. I think I'm just missing the driver. I'm currently updated and installing all the driver's I haven't so far from the reinstall of XP so we'll see if this'll work.

God I hate dells haha..

You suck! Haha

Anyways after some researching I was able to find out which card I had installed. So I downloaded the most up to date driver and now it's showing up. I just need to get the laptop added to the network and we'll be all good.

That's why I want to make sure it's completely stable before hand.

I'm not to worried because I'm only going to use it to download pictures and video's onto to make sure we don't lose anything.

And youll have me there... worst case scenario, a pitch off the 7th floor of the mariott should fix the problem.

paarman97maro 02-28-2007 01:17 AM

yeah I havent seen nearly as many probs with HPs.. Ive had probably about 3 ive owned now since 96 and they all still work. haha

Watch my computer crash tonight... thanks dick! lol

mxracerbrian 02-28-2007 01:21 AM

HPs are my fav for floor model pcs. nearly half of our repairs in geek squad are on dells and emachines. HP notebooks and desktops seem to be pretty strong. I think the all time worse unit out there are the Toshiba laptops (just the ones with the blue cases from a year or so ago). those things are horrible! easilly the most common laptop we get in lol. if you have one...sell on ebay now

Ive owned 2 hp notebooks in the last 3 years and they have been great, no problems, other than a power surge that cooked one, but I had the 3 accidental damage plan. I called them, there was a fedex box on my door with a shipping lable in it the next day, got it back 6 days later, I love HP's service.

But like everyone else said, knock on wood.
