Ah, the things a mother will do for her son - take him to school, kiss his boo-boos, make his meals, wash his clothes, take him robbing.
No, you didn't read that one wrong. That's exactly what a 36-year-old mother has been convicted of doing, after her teenaged son was arrested for holding up a jewelry store in the German city of
Dresden. The mom knew her 17-year-old boy was heading out with two friends to pull the heist, but she was worried that he might get hurt. So, she did what any good mother would - offering to drive him there and wait in the car to make sure he'd be alright. "I knew he wanted to rob the shop and I was very worried about him," she's quoted as telling the court.
Her son turned out to be safe, but the victim in this case wasn't. The store owner was stabbed during the robbery and had to be rushed to hospital. The court wasn't overly impressed by this display of maternal concern. The mother of five has been sentenced to three years and ten months in prison for her actions. There's no word on what the son received, but we here at SBT won't be surprised if his mother will volunteer to serve the time for him.
