I'd easilly guess 500... it's running at 9ghz... that technology might be cheap, but not cheap enough for 300.

your thinking of computers with software, remove 99% of teh software on your computer and the price drops dramatically $300 is called the magic price point on game consoles companies have found if it's more than that it doesn't sell
|
nah I'm thinking computers with hardware... that's basically all that console is (although it does have software too. ;) ) if I could get three processors totalling 9ghz for $300, I'd be stunned and super lucky... cheapest price Ive seen for a 1ghz cpu is $100... and that's only looking at hte price for a CPU, we're not even getting into the other hardware associated. Built computers that have nothing more than the hardware and a reformatted harddrive with a few gigahertz are sellin for $400-$500
Edit: But I do agree that $300 is the magic price for consoles, but at how much this console is able to accomplish, it's not a console so much as a computer.. it very easilly can be marketed as being a "super console" or something that would justify the higher price. :o |
yeah but brian microsoft doesnt go to circuit city to buy these parts, they get them directly from the manufacturer and for a lot cheaper than retail.
and i agree, it should go for around 500, but 300 is what it will be. the current xbox costs more than 300 to make but they know it wouldnt have sold if it was originally more. |
