I recommend you go with Telus. As well with either the blackberry 8830 or 8310(pearl 2)

the blackberry 8310 is a gsm phone? thats not supported by telus...(let me know if im wrong), im acctually going through the same process of swapping phones...i think ive settled with telus and the HTC P4000 smartphone...

i had a blackberry through telus on the mike network. hated it. i send over 2000 text messages a month and they dont have a text plan, so 15 cents in and out per message jsut wasnt my idea of a good plan.

ive had 2 blackberrys... i cant remember the model of one of them but it was one of the older style ones with the wheel on the side, i still have it, its a brick and indistructable, ive landed on it snowboarding and still works great. then i got the blackberry perl...AMAZING phone loved it, has a killer cameria and the mouse ball works great.
do NOT go with telus, they have the worst reception out of any company, but they have good pay and talk plans.
im with rogers and will never go to another company just because you can buy other gsm phones and just swap your sim card in, you dont have to tell them you got a new phone...also phones have a higer resale value and more demand.
the blackberry in comparison to other PDA phones is better for data use, it compresses the files so it costs you less to send and recieve msges.
if you are going to do a lot of e mails and typing on it go for the full size insted of the perl just because the small buttons do get annoying sometimes.
i gave my perl to my buddy cuz i got a samsung e840...just didnt need that much phone at the time but kinda want it back lol

i've had 2 crackberries, first was teh 7290 (blue) one, that things was indestructible!! I've dropped it out of a moving car, had it slid across pavement, all with only minor scratches.

Now i have the Curve 8310 gsm with rogers, love it!! Great reception and i love that its GSM. i recommend going to rogers, they have decent service, okay rates (bb's are expensive in general no matter who you go with) but the biggest plus is that they're gsm.

my 2 cents

I've had the 8830 world edition and the 8830 regular edition when I switched jobs If you don't mind the small track button and small numbers I highly recommend it, however the 8700 seriers is very functional

I have used every Blackberry out there at one point or another (Perks of working closely with RIM and Telus) and I am curring using an 8830 World Edition, and I will never give it up, until the 9000's come out in Septemeber.

The Big choice with Blackberries is which style the Charm Style Blackberry (the 7100, the Curve, the Pearl) which have a sure-type keyboard which has 2 letters per key but reduces the overall width of the blackberry. Some people find this really useful, I just find it annoying as hell.

The other choice is the QWERTY styled 8830, 8703,and older 7250 which has a full keyboard but a slightly wider phone.

The other part is the Trackball, the 8830, the Pearl and the Curve all have the new Trackball mounted in the center, just below the screen while the others have the trackwheel mounted on the right hand side of the unit.

I use my 8830 everywhere. I slapped an 8gb Micro SD Card into and so now not only is it my phone/E-mail/Calender/Organizer/Phone Book/Notepad/Internet Browser, but it is also my MP3 Player now too.

The provider question is completely up to you, you will always find people on both sides of the fence for any provider, so the choice is really up to you. The only thing I can truely say is Rogers will ALWAYS get new phones 4-6 months before Bell and Telus do, because Rogers is a GSM Carrier like 90% of the rest of the world so manufacturers release GSM versions of their phones before the CDMA Versions
