boosting wireless connection
 

Here is the problem, I'm running bell sympatico and a bell router and downstairs we have a laptop using the stock 802.1g card and it maxed out and I would like to know is there anything I can buy to speed it up even further since it is slow compared to the desktop

try moving it away from walls and such. I had the same problem, but later I upgraded to Wireless N network. And everything is fine now.

Make a really long antenna out of foil and duct tape it to the lid of your laptop. Or you can grab a bunch of those cellphone booster stickers and cover your laptop in em.

Thats not the problem, my problem is that the built in wireless card is maxed out and I would like to speed it up even more

Your only option may be to get an 802.11n card

what do you mean maxed it out? lol

your internet connection is only say 8mbps anyway(to be generous). your wireless router is at mininum wireless G which is 54mbps, same goes for your wireless card. the router and wireless card you have now are more than capable of sending data at the internet/dsl modems speed(8mbps).

Your options are
1. live with what you have
2. plug in your pc instead of wireless more stable more reliable speeds.
3. buy a better router which will increase signal strength and you might see better performance from it.

Remove the antenna from the wireless device, submerge it in Distilled Water (very important not to use water with any type of mineral in it) and place it in the freezer overnight. In the morning, remove the antenna icicle and let it thaw for about 24 hours or until you're sure it's perfectly dry.

Once the antenna is dry, take it and clean the stains from your toilet bowl, then use it to scratch between your ass crack. Once you have satisfied "The Itch", place it back on the wireless device (Warning: Do not breathe/smell fumes from antenna). The freezing, and the viscous layer of "doodie" with ultimately allow for greater signal carrying and you should be able to get another bar out of your reception on your cell phone.

Now, if you want to boost range only, try removing any object between the wireless router and your wireless PC... walls, furniture, Grandpa Rudy who just won't ****ing die or stop shitting himself... etc.

it recieves the wireless signal and then amplifies it.just gotta put it within range of your current wireless signal
