Slow Laptop Frustration

I have a Toshiba Satellite that's only 2 years old and has stared running slower and slower. I've run CCleaner on it and have scanned it with Avast!, and all seems clear. Any other ideas?

You may want to bite the bullet and just do a clean install on that baby. I am assuming that you can find the installers for all your apps.

Make sure you have all the drivers before reformatting, also you can always try disk clean up, and try defragmenting

I wouldn't be too worried about the drivers. I would be more worried about having the system restore disks to hand to restore it back to the state you got it in.

If you try and put another OS on it that wasn't originally installed on the laptop, you may have problems re-activating the OS.

I have the disc the laptop came wth so that I can restore it to how it was when I first got it, but I've done that before on another computer and remember the time it takes to re-download all the programs, updates, drivers, etc. Man, I hope there's another way.

Are you experiencing slow boot time? It is possible that malwares/spywares might have affected your system.

1. Install ``adaware`` anti spyware program
2. Install ``spybot search and destroy`` anti spyware program.
3. Make sure to update the signature files before you run them one after another
4. run adaware program and do a full scan
5. run spybot program and do a full scan.

those 2 programs will clean about 90 percent of the spywares out there.

One more thing before you call it a day,
1. run ``msconfig.exe`` from start -> run command
2. Go to startup tab and review the programs that are set to start up on boot. Many of the programs don't need to be started when the machine boots (Messenger, Adobe reader etc). They will eat up the resources and clog your system.

Good luck..

I am not a big laptop fan (no offense) but what about Trend, its free, is it laptop friendly? I have an old Dell that bit the big one a couple of years back and since then I really have no need for a lappie.

Mine's doing strange stuff too. It keeps losing Adobe Flash. I'm having to install it everytime I turn the darned thing on. It works fine after that but I'm wondering if I should invoke the warrenty and send it in to be looked at?
