Windows XP Serials?!?!

well its became clear to me that Microsoft is cracking down on illegal windows serial numbers. I know there was ways of avoiding it. Now there are the retarded megs popping up saying that the serial number is illegal. I figure its only a matter of time b4 windows locks up on you if u dont get a legal serial number. What is the current way around this? if i reinstall windows and disable the windows updates, would that avoid all these problems?

Trying that now, rebuilt the box, created a firewall rule to keep the updates from coming in and so far so good.
Its only been a few days.
However, a legit copy can be bought for a lot less than 2 bills now.

Disabling windows update does work.

damn microsoft, so what does work? anyone?

That's a tough one... a non-updated copy of XP has thousands of vulnerabilities

well you can download the update manually and install them. this is more for advanced users that know what updates they are looking for. There has to be a way to lock microsoft out of your computer so that the illegal serials wouldnt be found. then we can just download the updates manually.

i just formated my computer a few days ago, and when i came to update windows i ran into the same problem then i found a program that lets u update windows even if your copy is not legit,
the program is called mublinder
http://www.p2plife.com/forums/Offici...Page-t320.html
now when doing the updates don't download the validation tools, they are useless and the only reason they are there so windows would know if u have a legit copy.

enjoy

never had that problem yet

no problems here

Mr.Honda 07-25-2006 12:56 PM

some users might not have this problem because they are still running the OS that came with their computers, some OS that come with your computers will have a legal serial number which u need to save!!!! thats why some ppl dont have this problem.

for all you users with illegal copies of xp

make sure you right click on my computer and get into properties. then in automatic updates choose the option that says download updates for me but choose when to install them.

when the bubble shows up saying there are new updates to be installed click on it to bring the window up. Then click on custom install.

Look through the list of updates and unclick any update called "windows Genuwine Advantage" or similar. This should solve your problem.

If you already have been caught. you need to find the program online to stop it. pm me and i might be able to help you out with that.
