moved to the dodge sectio, hopefully itll get a bit more play.

As for the avenger, why not upgradee to a Concorde ?

Charlie_Chaos 01-08-2007 12:47 PM

I've seen a few Modded ones. They usually have one thing in common. Broke dissapointed owners.

Do what you want to but I wouldn't.

munch 01-09-2007 03:45 PM

i knew a few people that owned them.....the one guy he had more eltric problems than he knew what to do with

TurboH22Civic 01-09-2007 04:05 PM

the cars suck an dthe electric problems start teh secon du get one lol

TunerMods.com 01-09-2007 08:02 PM

Would anyone like to clarify the problems that these cars are known for? what electric problems?

judging from: Dodge Avenger Review and Information they are fairly good cars.

Charlie_Chaos what do you know? you've owned GMs/Fords your whole life and have been broke and dissapointed with your 16-17sec beasts... being broke is one thing, paying to play is another.

Judgez24 - your car in stock mode is known for many problems as well and is slow stock... so your point is? any car can be made nice/fast/reliable with alittle $$ invested. How much have you dumped into your z24 to make it quick?

I've heard of a guy with one running the streets of Toronto that has a fully built head/block/tranny. I'll try to find a link to it on the net.

You heard of a guy meaning one guy.
The car is basicaly a sebring / stratus. Not much out there for modifications at a reasonable price for those cars. Ya anything can be made fast but would you spend thousands on a strataus to go 15 maybe 14 seconds?
If you like the car fine, go buy one. Probably no worse than the other chrysler products as a good daily driver but if you are looking for somthing that can be modified, I would go with somthing else.

Lenny_Z28 01-09-2007 10:00 PM

i agree with R/T and thanks again for all the input.

Sebasano 01-09-2007 10:08 PM

Only sports car by Dodge I'd buy is a Stealth. Thats including Viper. Which I feel is a useless car when designed to just go straight.

Test Drive a Stealth...you want be disappointed and its mainly a Mitsu.

Seb

I dont like the look of them personally, but to each there owns I guess :la:

It's not mostly an Mitsu, it IS a Mitsu. There were only some very very minor cosmetic changes (Changed Interior Colour, and placement of 2 of the Control knobs), and swapping of Badging between the 3000GT and the Stealth.

And thats the reason it does not suck like other Dodge's is because it isn't a Dodge. It is the same with the Dodge Colt (Eagle Summit)/Mitsubishi Mirage/Lancer, and the Eagle Talon/Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Dodge "borrowed" the design from Mitsu back when Imports were frowned upon in the late 80's/early 90's

thats besides the point. my car has been far more reliable than my budys avenger was and from the looks of it the aftermarket support is much larger aswell. for stock peformance theyre slower than a second gen j body out of the box, i know this because the jco had a shootout with the asog i believe theyre called group and not a single one of their cars could match what our cars were laying down for numbers.

also if i told you how much money i dumped into my car your head would probably pop so ill keep that to myself, lol.

oh one other thing, dodge isnt known for having strong trannies and these cars are no exception, my buddy went through a few of them and he doesnt drive the car hard, just a dodge thing. i think they look cool but thats about where it ends

oh and dont kid yourself, i wouldnt reccomend a cavalier to people either, especially not one from before 1999, weak trannies is the biggest issue with these cars and people who dont properly maintain them tend to cause a bearing to spin. aside from that there arent many issues with these cars, but it is a nice starter car especially for the price, you get something peppy and sporty looking and you can also get a 5 spd, but to modify as extensivly as i have its not cheap and there isnt as much aftermarket support as there is for a dsm or any honda product out there
