408+Forced Induction!

Hi, my name is Ryan and this is my first post:wiggle: I have a 1994 Cobra with a 351 in it. I have been doing a lot of research and am still stuck on what to do with my mustang to make my goal of 700RWHP.

The current engine is a 1972 351windsor bored .30 over. I was originally going to go with a 408 supercharged stroker. I figured running around 12-14lbs. would get me to my goal of 700RWHP.

My questions:

1)Would my current heads, ported and polished GT40 heads support this set up?
2)I estimate it will cost over 10k, has anybody done something similar to this that can give me an estimate?
3)Would there be a cheaper way of approaching this build? IE 427 with nitrous??

Thanks and nice to meet you all!

1. dunno, yea you probably could get away with the GT40 heads....but you might like to try something that flows a little better especially if you're aiming for 700hp.

2. I have a friend that built a 5.4 that cost $30k+ (canadian funds) it's making just shy of 600hp at the wheels(2001 Lightning) Might be a little cheaper as you're not running a modular motor but then again, you're looking for 100 more hp than he's making. I dunno if it's the same this year as last but you were looking at around $1000 per tenth of a second last year.

3. The cheap way out I guess is your motor with a MASSIVE shot of spray.
I don't really think there's a cheap way to make 700+hp. If you want reliable power, you need a strong bottom end and a good set of heads. If you just want to make big hp a big shot of spray and lots of spare parts will do the job I guess, but that'll probably end up being more expensive in the long run.

I dont think the heads will flow enough. I would look into a
set of AFR 225s and a spyder/ Super victor fuelie style intake

theres a website that me and a bunch of my buddies use for extreme budget projects its ENGINEKITS.COM theres a lot to check out
its unbalanced but its worth it the heads flow extremely well for something thats not mainstream.
