hey guys

i've always been a fan of imports but ive always wanted a ford probe

so i'll be buying one 2moro for 1800 cert and e tested

i just wanted to know a couple things

1) are fords as easy to steal as hondas?
2) do they break down alot
3) wheres a good place in the T.O to get maintenance on my car (again im a major n00b in american cars so preferably a place who wont take advantage of my n00byness)
4) its currently auto and i wantede to swap it 2 5 speed does anyone know aproximately how much it would cost (parts and labour) and where to go for it?
5) how much are turbo's for my probe and is the GT already turbo charged?
6) i wanted to get coilovers for my probe but again all i know are import sites to get coil overs so does anyone know a place i can go (or does anyone know if a place in T.O. can do it)
7) whats the bolt pattern of the wheels and the tire profile (STOCK)
8)what are the speaker dimensions of my car, how many are their

i know thats alot but again im supa n00b when it comes to american so help me out lol

also, ONPOC Forums (Powered by Invision Power Board) is a local ontario based probe owners club

1) No
2) Not if taken care of...just like any 16 year old car, there will be issues.
3) ask on ONPOC, alot of guys are good there and know people who know people
4) You definately want to get rid of that auto tranny, POS that is going to fail soon
5) You can get a used turbo and everything you need for probably around 1200-1500, maybe cheaper. Check the ONPOC forums for partouts, or probetalk for that matter
6) once again, ask around, partouts are the best thing to look for if your on a budget
7) 5x114.3
8) front are 6.5", rear's are 5x7's (2 front 2 rear)
on the speaker note, if the car your looking at has the premium sound system in it, it will come with a builtin amplifier, and subwoofer in the rear

i put a down on mine ysterday lol im picking it up 2moro (it looks sooo nice and drives even better)

just a quick question

can i lower the seat cuz my knees are hitting the steering wheel but even if the seats are all the way back my knees still hit it

well with the power seats I know it can tilt a bit, also the steering wheel tilts up

I am not a tall guy but leave it all the way up, theres a leaver be the light switch.

What color did u get, work on that 5spd right away, my 95 pgt has a CAI n it ads a nice tone to it.I think there is someone on ONPOC that is selling a 5spd conversion actually... Join ONPOC, great forum, they have meets too!

LOL I DO AHAHAHA

but ya lol ill kill the tranny before i do the conversion cuz to replace the tranny they need to take out the motor so ill just buy the conversion than (it shouldnt cost me more than a grand)

right on man,

have fun with it. I am loving every drive I take with this car. Mines Rio Red...the moonroof is a little rusty though, and the a-pillar is starting to form, can't wait for summer to fix that!

mine has a dent on the driver quarter from the gas cap to the rear light and about 3 inches in and about 12 inches long not too hard to fix

i dont have a moonroof but thats cool lol, bumper is a bit scratched but that'll be replaced in the summer and ya mines rio red also :P

btw how do you know if i have the model with the built in sub and amp?

umm

open the hatch, on the passenger side behind the taillight, there will be a little custom shaped box type thing that says subwoofer in the probe font. Its a stock 6.5" but you can buy aftermarket 6.5" subs and a small amp, wire it all up and u got a decent system in a small enclosure no bigger than a shoe box. Also if your car still has the stock ford CD player and Equalizer, thats a giveaway that you have the 'Premium System'

lol same here, but I got the woofer in the back....I think the previous owner swapped out the cd player...or maybe had his own in there, then just went back to stock before selling, who knows. All I know is once warmer weather arrives I am going to set up a nice n small system
