Which is a better mustang to buy
Which is a better mustang to buy
Hey guys, im thinking of buying a 5.0 Fox mustang and im wondering which mustang is better to get, im thinking either a LX 5.0 or a GT 5.0 im not quite sure what the difference/s are between these 2 fine Mustangs.
If you opt for the GT it will be a hatch.
The LX can be either hatch or coupe, and if you can find an LX coupe with a 5.0L, you scored.
Other than that, IMO, it doesn't matter...GT or LX, as long as you don't change your mind and buy some friggin IROC or Trans AM, it's all good.

GT's also come in convertible models.
The only difference between the GT and 5.0 LX is this:
GT has a body package consisting of unique front bumper cover, side skirts and door mouldings, rear bumper cover and unique rear spoiler. Depending on the year, 87-89 GT Mustangs had turbine wheels exclusively. Also, from 87-88 the GT Mustang had a unique interior with power lumbar seats wrapped in a tweed cloth with matching door panels. In 89, the LX was also offered with this interior as a factory option. From 90-93, all GT's had the premium tweed interior and the LX's were offered with them as an option. From 91-93 GT's and 5.0 LX came with the same 16" 5 spoke "Pony" wheels.
I shouldnt have to explain that the LX was also offered in a weak 2.3l 4 Cylinder version.

The preference is usually an LX Coupe over a GT. The reasons being that the coupe is slightly stronger and lighter than the hatchback GT, which always equates into a faster car down the 1320. The LX hatchback is also lighter than the GT hatchback, but loses out on the rigidity versus it's coupe brother. The skirt package adds about another 80-90lbs, which really isn't that significant.
